Hello,

Yesterday for firts time i started to mess with textures and, i created some nice stuff, like an akatsuki cloack from a black robe and so, i would really like to use it over my ebony mail.

But if i follow my logic i would put the edited black robe on the ebonymail folder, but istead of replacing the whole skin, it only takes de texture, so the result is the ebony mail with some deformated texture.

I would really apreciate if someone can teach me how to completly replace the skin (Having ebony mail on but with the black robes skin)!

I can upload the texture if someone is willing to change it!

Regards and thx!

Ebony armor uses a different mesh (3D model) than the black robe so the layout of the texture is different as well. If you want to change the ebony armor you have to change the ebony armor texture, you can't copy/paste textures from another mesh.

You can't replace any texture, only if the model of the object is the same. You can't put a texture of a sphere onta a cube...

If you want to edit the ebony armor you just have to open the ebony armor texture and edit it...if you want parts from the cloak in it you have to open the cloak texture in an image editor as well and then you can copy parts of it into the other image or redraw them, you can't replace whole files.

Well if this already sounds complicated then i want tell you how i do it using 3D / texturing software...that would f*ck you up then. Without any knowledge or experience it will be pretty hard to manage.

If you want to change a texture without any other programs than gimp you first have to understand the layout, i just edited this Falmer texture for better understanding:

You have to understand the location of all body/armor/clothing parts...and then edit them.

For example those pants...if you want a white one you have to color those brownish pants, if you want the Falmer to be naked you would have to draw skin over all parts of the pants. If you want him to wear jeans you would have to replace the pants and the legs with parts of jeans and so on...

Same with the ebony armor texture...open it, locate the areas, open the cloak texture, select the areas you want to be on the armor and copy/paste them onto the ebony image, then you would have to morph the new parts so they fit and so on. You have to think 3-dimensional since this is a 2D texture that will be put over a 3D model like a skin...that's no easy thing to to.

Recoloring or changing minor parts only using gimp/photoshop = no problems but it's quite impossible for an unexperienced user to replace the whole thing. The common way is to create a whole new model so the texture fits or replace the model...but again, not so easy. Check out youtube for texturing videos to get an idea 'bout the whole process.
