tomchick
I'm looking for some way to make nights actually dark, and not just a slightly blue tinted dimmed version of day. I've found Silent Resident's Realistic Flashlight mod, but from the description, it doesn't seem to do anything meaningful to the actual nighttime. I had hoped AmeliaCrasman's Gloom mod might fit the bill, but I'm not seeing the darker nights, and instead I'm just seeing everything getting a bit too orange for my tastes. It's certainly lovely, and it provides a new sense of atmosphere -- literally -- but I just want something that makes it legitimately hard to see at night. Does anyone know if there's a mod that can do this? Alternatively, does anyone have any tips for how a non-mod-inclined person like myself might be able to tweak some setting to make darker nights? -Tom
doomlorddan
turn down the gamma to 60 makes a HUGE difference at nightforcing you to use your flashlight
Gnessim
Silent Hill Experiment mod is my pick for this purpose. Then there's a heap of gloom mods, none of which caught my attention to any impressive extent. <rant>And if you're into that kind of thing: every mod hub is flooded with cancerous onslaught of shader hacks, like ENB, SweetFX, ReShade and so forth. This game has surprisingly few of those listed on Nexus but the hacks themselves are very generic, they support any game and their presets can be easily interchanged. Some "modders" even go as far as to chain together 3 or so of those hacks in order to completely ruin the palette of the game. You can take a preset made for Skyrim (popular hub — wide assortment) and apply it to SoD.</rant> As for "non-mod-inclined": you're in the wrong place and even then, there are only so much options the game provides. As @doomlorddan suggested, gamma setting is about it. It can enhance the effect of a mod but won't give you what you want on its own. Edited July 30, 2018 by Gnessim
Gnessim
Oh, right. Also, use MasterClock to set night duration to at least 1 hour. That was crucial for my experience.
