In less than 24 hours this thread has become a four-page philosophy paper on the nature of ethics...

Hah! My paper on the nature of Ethics was 15 pages long. I'm barely even started yet.

In a more contextual vien, when dealing with the Stormcloaks and Empire, one HAS to consider ethics. Even going with the knee jerk reaction of railing against the people who were going to execute you is a ethical choice on the part of the player. Its a valid one as well.

I however encourage more comprehensive evaluation of the situation and circumstances of the world, as well as consideration for the potential long term effects. Thats why i tend to push Stormcloak/Empire discussions into ethical grounds, to try and encourage people to think about things on a deeper level.

We aren't really helping this guy, are we?

I say, ModelIV, go around Skyrim, talk with Imperials, Stormcloaks and Argonians, and then make your own decision. I think a Black Marsh nationalist wouldn't even meddle in the affairs of Tullius and Ulfric, let alone fight for one of them. So I have no answer for your question.

EDIT: I know I didn't at first, and joined the Stormcloaks because I was mad at the Imperials for trying to separate my head from my body, but then I felt regret. I love Romans, Roman culture and the Roman Wars and Legions, so I'm kind of an Imperial guy. I have no regrets about joining Tullius's army eventually.

This, i think, is really the best answer. Learn more about whats going on, and make your own judgement on the situation. Read books, talk to people (Not just from each faction, but neutrals as well). Ultimately, the ethical stance you take has to be justified to you. All i can say is don't make it based on a knee jerk reaction, actually learn whats going on.
