government banning meat pies

Okay (here comes the big dumb American) what is a "meat pie?" If they are like chicken potpies then why the hell are you guys eating them in the first place? The government can't control what people eat at home, but I don't think there's much wrong with them not serving (don't think of it as banning, but rather as a judicious menu planning initiative) junk food in the schools. They have to try something, its got to be less expensive to try and serve kids something like a turkey sandwich and salad rather than pop for quadruple bipass surgery later on down the line.

ummmm..... i dunno if this was limited to only meat pies.... word around the schoolyard had it as everything fat, mostly the baked stuff... i.e sausage rolls, chicken pies(maybe not the ones with vegetable) muffins, are going....

I mean maybe they wouldnt', nay couldnt take it all away if they took away our meat, we'd become all veggie's and have no strngth to play our stereotypical man-ish sports..... noooooooooooooo :help: :help: :help:

Much resented Mojlnir. Forums, as I understand them, are intended to enlighten and expand one's frame of mind not diminish. And as for "big dumb", I am neither! This simplification of stereotyping nationalities/races has lasted far too long. Please think on this... :angry2:

Yo, mojlnir basically a meat pie (OMG) is a beef mince put with flour bravy salt and the rest of that kinda stuff is put in a pastrie, but as an australin has no idea what chicken pot pie is....

Mojlnir, what happens if we already get the option of a healthy sandwich that people already buy anyway, i mean those who wish to stay trim actually do buy the sandwiches instead.... but to take away our chips!(crisps) they've pushed it now, that's all the modern child ever eats nowdays during school, *Sigh* now school sucks even harder....

OT> muennin really dont spam like that what you did is worse than Mojlnir, it was clear he was joking... but you spammed

Uh, he was refering to himself, not you. But nice speech anyway.

Apologies, ShinJiOh. :( His joking was mistaken. With anti-Americanism running rampant throughout OUR collective world, I am understandably 'hot under the collar'.

Let's get back ON TOPIC, shall we?

In my measured opinion, I continue to believe that this banning of an otherwise available, and legal, food option is positively abominable! We all reserve the right to make our own decisions in life.

Muennin, I did not mean to offend. I was referring to myself in that, as an American who has never had a "meat pie,"I was unenlightened as to what one was. My thanks to Shin for rectifying that situation. For those of you who are wondering what a chicken pot pie is, I suspect is it very close to the aforementioned meat pie. They are basically mini-pies filled with gravy and small chunks of potatos and veggies. They can also be purchased in "beef" and several other varieties and are an excellent source of calories for the late-night college munchies. These "pies" and ramen noodles cost me nearly 25 pounds my freshman year and I have not eaten one since.

As for school food, I see little problem with supplying healthy options. However, I still would want access to chips (crisps), french fries (in all forms: thick-cut, spicy, curly-cue, etc), ice cream, cookies, donuts and the like. Also, Shin makes the excellent point that there is little point in banning food when healthy alternatives are already supplied. So, in light of new information, I am revising my previous postion and upholding your rights to meat pies! Don't knock the veggie-heads though, true vegitarianism is a tough way to eat in today's society.

Just to add my two cents, if this happened at the school I went to, you know what would happen? At lunchtime, the school canteen would be deserted and the local corner shop would do a roaring trade in hot meat pies.
