A question about Dialogue

MkT, nifskope is pretty much essential for mod maker and user... At least that's how I see it.

For textures, I use gimp. It's free. I think it needs a plugin to export .dds files (the ones you'd need). There's other programs that work, but gimp has worked well for me.

Why would it be essential for a mod user ? I can see that thinking for a mod maker though.

However , I see making a mod like building a sandwich. One doesn't need to know how to bake bread , cure meat /cheese , and grow vegetables , in order to make a great sandwich.

And I have plenty more to learn about what makes the engine tick and how to manipulate it with the geck. Plus assets to use seem plentiful enough for me.

IDK ... just haven't had enough interest to investigate that branch of modding ... which I know would be a universal skill for game modding and other things. Unlike skill with the geck being rather narrow for it's use.

For one thing, it's nice to be able to see .nif's before installing the mod. For another, if say for example, a texture isn't showing up correctly on a model, (mostly handy if it doesn't use a texture set in geck) you can check the filepath for the texture to either troubleshoot or fix the problem.

soory you guys didn't convince me ... sheesh ,,, why should I labor over nifs (yes nifty) when there is plenty other people who seem to luv it? So I'll just stick with what I have to bring to the table.

It's the same thing in my band ... other people be switching around playing guitar, drums, keyboard, singing ... but nobody else can play bass like I can. Hence I play the bass and nobody else.

Which means ... I focus on the geck so I can be good at it. And I still have a lot to learn ... but maybe ... just maybe I am moving beyond being a rookie with it.

But .... Okies .... I see's ya'lls point .... and if I wana be on Jokelly's mod team ... I'm gona have to learn this next step.

I played in bands for a long time, myself and with the exception of the one that had 3 guitarists (in which I had the freedom to switch between lead and keyboard, depending on what I thought worked better for the song) we didn't really switch instruments within each band, but as a songwriter, I found it invaluable to learn every instrument I had access to. And as a performer, the same thing ensured I'd be able to move on quick to the next band if one ended. Sure, it's good to have a specialty, but there's no way having a wide range of skills will be detrimental to you, it's all benefit.

man I feel like an idiot, I've owned a guitar and a Violin for over a decade and I can only play eight songs on the guitar and make noise with the violin LOL Loud screeching noise's that get the dogs howling and the cats fleeing. I'd probably do better with bag pipes and at least I get that joke. LOL
