Did for me yesterday when activated .. or I should say it said there is a new version and let me update.

 

Sorry I meant does it update mods automatically

Click on the version no. to open your browser to the Nexus page for the mod and download. Same as you did originally.

Once downloaded, de-activate the old version and activate the new one.

 

I would advise keeping the old version(still de-activated) until you are happy that the new version does not introduce any new problems.

Also remember that sometimes it seems confused on which is the current/newest version, especially when there are several parts of one mod (like when it warns you that this mod is already active and you have to tell it to install separate and not overwrite). At least that has been my experience. Also, if you are running a lot of mods, remember what Flobalob said about making sure new versions are running good. Sometimes new versions of a mod can have unexpected problems or compatibility issues, performance hits, etc. The changelog and comments section is a good way to check if there are any known or occurring issues with the newest version.
