FalseNinja
Hello guys!! I'm new to these forums and wanted some help... So err I wanted to ask if you guys could take a look at my build and tell me if its alright or if there are certain ways I can make improvements to it.. Well here it is My link I'm not to sure about how this might work out... Like I kinda wanna be a sneaky archer but also have conjuration as like a back up for when I can't sneak and have like summons to tank for me.. Also I wanted to use a bound bow because I heard it is as strong as a Deadric Bow plus has infinite arrows XD.. In my experience you can pretty much make any build work....the game increases those things you do most...and you do the thing that you need the most often thus...everything you need to do gets boosted... You wont be able to do everything via archery, at least not well...so you will naturally develop secondary skill...but my first build was an archer/mage that didnt look too terribly different than your beuild when I started. AnzacTNF
I'd say the 2 perks for Steady Hand and the ones from Critical Shot to Ranger aren't worth it. Instead you should add a bit for Smithing and/or Light Armor. Remeber that your sneaking skills won't help you against dragons. Muffled movement can be obtained from enchanted items if I remeber correctly. Light Foot is also rather a waste, just watch where you're going. Spending two points just for a roll (has it a special purpose, or is it just for the look?), the possibility to run while sneaking and the combat stop (as a silent archer you shouldn't be in combat that much) seems questionable to me. I don't think you get stuck at some point in the game, but that's just how I see things. :)
Brandy1123
Steady hand 1 is good to have. An archer can't afford the close combat attacks too many times. The steady hand slows down time enough to get a 2nd and sometimes 3rd shot off. As for the ranger and Hunter, IMHO i think is a waste of valuable points towards skills that are almost meaningless. PR4Y
Just so you know, 50 isn't the level cap... 81 is. You can still spend another 31 perk points. Granted, 100 in every skill isn't very realistic... you can still give yourself like 5-10 points of wiggle room should you need it (so you don't feel so confined with the 50 soft cap) My thoughts on your build: Ranger is an excellent skill... have you guys ever seen the difference with and without it? It makes a HUGE difference in combat, and if you need to dodge an arrow / spell / whatever while lining up a shot, it's damn near impossible without the Ranger perk. What actually IS unnecessary is Stealth 5/5. You only NEED 1/5 in the endgame... so save yourself 4 perk points and just get 1/5. I say this because of enchanted boots (Muffle) and other perks make it pretty much impossible for NPC's to find you, thus wasting 4 perk points on something you honestly don't need. As far as Steady Hand 2/2 is concerned... I only got 1/2 on my main assassin. My trick shot character (for funsies) has 2/2, but I've noticed that while I'm playing, slowing time as far as 2/2 goes is actually kind of annoying. It CAN be helpful at times, but those times are very limited, and for the most part you will be wishing you still had 1/2. Bullseye is a tossup. I have paralyze enchants on my bow and my blades, so having a perk that has paralyze was a bit of a waste in my build, so I passed up on it. Critical Shot 3/3 ??? I stayed at 1/3 for this aswell. 2 perk points for 10% chance? I passed on this one for the simple fact that with enchanting and smithing, you'll be damn near 1hit killing most mobs anyways, so what's the point of 2 wasted perk points for a critical hit that probably won't matter? As far as using a bound bow goes... Personally, I wouldn't do it. I have yet to see any solid statistics on DPS output in comparison to a Daedric (Legendary) w/out enchants, but I seriously doubt those claims. In the conjuration cost tree... if you are going to go for summoned companions, you should just go all out. Go all the way up to Master, because at higher levels those adept conjurations aren't going to last you very long... and the Master conjuration spells just OWN anyways... so yeah, beef that up to Master Cost Reduction with the other perks i've saved you thus far. As for the 2 points in Alchemy... I'd definitely spend 1 more and get the benefactor. 25% magnitude in terms of potions is actually a big deal, especially at higher levels. Spend the 1 more perk point and save yourself some ingredients by consuming less potions in the long haul. That's about it that I can think of. I hadn't planned on writing all this or going this in-depth... but after I started I figured WTH I might as well make it a full analysis. Hope I was helpful in some of my comments... but please remember this is just my opinion from my personal experience (I have 3 characters level 60+ and 2 level 40ish - if that means anything) Good luck! OT: Just invest in Archery, Light/heavy Armor (your preference), Blacksmith, and Enchantment. I use a Khajiit Ranger/Master Blacksmith and Enchanter; who wears full Dragonscale stacking enchantments of 130% Archery Damage, 50+ Health, an Muffle, along with a Daedric Bow enchanted with 34 points of Fire Damage. I then tempered (improved) all of this while stacking 130% smithing booster. My armor rating all combined is just under 300 points and my bow does 250 damage + 34 fire damage. I down Elder Dragons with Falmer Arrows... :whistling: No one ever touches this one. Edited January 12, 2012 by SaintAnon
thesapien
Wow, that's a really neat website for Skyrim. Sorry, didn't look much at your build after getting sidetracked by the awesome utility you were using. Plus, I'm just trying out a new build myself with a focus on archery for the first time. I did experiment with some cheats before hand, and, to me, some of the perks did actually merely feel like perks and not necessary just as others have mentioned. Like zooming in is cool, but I already play on a 30 inch monitor with native 2560x1600 resolution. Slowing time also looks cool and is fun but doesn't help me draw another arrow faster or do anything faster. The perk for actually moving faster with a drawn arrow makes me feel like a none pro because why am I running with my bow drawn instead of quickly taking the shot? I can run just as fast without looking like a fool. So really practicing your mad skills instead allows you to invest those perks elsewhere, making for an even better archer. It would also allow you to follow PR4Y's advice on upping your conjuring to master, which is the only way to improve conjuring really since mad skills don't apply there. Thanks for the link! thesapien
PS I also really like your idea of a conjuring archer and am thinking of doing the same now. It just makes so much sense the more I think about it. So thanks for that idea, too.
