A player-owned fort!

and why afect helgen when it shurly wil come a mood like kvatch rebyld just for helgen and then make these two incompaible with eachother?

Exactly. There will be enough Helgen mods over a few months with everything you can wish for. Therefore, a player-owned Helgen isn't an option. A player-owned Robber's Gorge would be awesome though.

What I personally want to see, most of all and pretty sure it's damn to much work is a Skyrim recreation of Moria from Lord Of The Rings. A huge place, filled with the newly designed Goblins. Bethesda can't create that since the Tolkien copyright for games is currently property of Electronic Arts, but that doesn't stop us modders! There is already a mod that replaces the dragons with ponies from My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic. F*ck yeah

Well, i don't know much about modding, but couldn't you just put in additional dialogue options after winning to the war for one side or the other, where either tulius or ulfric will give you your own fort? it would be a nice reward for that quest line, it doesn't seem like there is much of a reward for all the things you do there anyways.

But then you would have to do lip syncing and voice recording yourself. That's pretty difficult

Okay, that would be really awesome! Way too big a task for me to undertake, but one I'd be very likely to download and play if someone else did it...

Absolutely I could.

Thing is, I'd prefer to add content that all players can begin experiencing right away. Some players won't do the Civil War questline; others just won't do it right away (me -- I still haven't so much as joined a side, and I'm running 3 characters!). I may do a Civil War-dependent one as a "sequel" once I get this one more-or-less complete, but the first go-round I want to be as independent of everything else as is possible.

Not necessarily... I mean if your not going to add voice acting for the entire rest of the mod, then you might as well not for that part, and even if you are, then still because there characters that already exist, i don't think people would mind if that part isn't voice acted.

But, if your intent on making it voice acted then add a new npc who sends a courier with a message telling you to come to him, and he says he works for ulfric/tulius and they have instructed them to give you a fort as a reward. However, again, if the rest of the mod isn't going to be voiced it doesn't really matter.

I do want to add voice acting, but initially I'm just not going to bother -- I can do all the dialog in caption form (with simple placeholder sound files), so that's not holding me back, but it would definitely be a fine finishing polish to recruit some voice actors from the community (there seems to be a lot of them around) and including their talents.

hmm i suggest something like that - hero should beat a bandits in some forts, ruins etc. Then rebuild that place, then defend... he should not have castle just like that ;p Sry for my english.. i am still working on it :)

That's exactly what's happening now, krissojka -- the player is given a quest to clear out Robber's Gorge, then has to defend and upgrade it through bandit raids, falmer attacks, etc. I've created a discussion thread for it here if you're interested.

There's also now an official wiki page for the mod, with a very early pre-release available for download there if anyone wants to check it out.

Watch this:

It got some pretty cool new mods in it. Especially the giant mudcrab. That gave me an idea. How about Robbers Gorge being attacked by a giant godzilla like creature? you just got new magical powers and a new sword or something like that and with those epic powers you get to fight the big ass wingless dragon and preventing your fort being destroyed.
