You need to click the "txt" in the BOTTOM window as you've highlighted in your second image, this will cause the popup box to appear

If you get a message saying that it "couldn't find parent node RRClavical [RR01]" or something like that, it means that there is a missing bone on the mesh,

Go back to your second (source) mesh and find that bone then press CTRL + C to copy it and back in your new mesh press CTRL + V to paste it, you should now have a new 'bone' with a weird name, seemingly chosen at random by Nifskope.

You'll then have to rename it (the same way as with the body mesh, by clicking on the "txt" icon in the BOTTOM window) to exactly match the name from the source mesh

You'll need to do this for all missing bones

I second the plea!

I can click on the "txt" icon as shown, and view the little popup window that appears, as advised. But I am very unsure as to exactly what text from that window I'm copying, and exactly where I'm pasting it.

Some clear "copy this text, and paste it here" pics would be an enormous help, if someone is able to take a few quick screenshots!

It's pretty forgiving, in the sense that just changing names won't really hurt the mesh or the game so long as everything is where it should be ...

So here we have our 2 meshes, I want to use parts of the Ebony mesh on the Orcish mesh so I've opened both in Nifskope

http://i1210.photobucket.com/albums/cc411/lrg1602/Skyrimage/tut1a.jpg

http://i1210.photobucket.com/albums/cc411/lrg1602/Skyrimage/tut1b.jpg

Now notice that they have different names for the (0) or main NiNode so we need to rename them as discussed above.

Once you've done the rename press, CTRL + C to copy the armor part of the mesh (in the case of the Ebony armor it's called "Cuirass" but it is different for other armors, so click on the NiNode that corresponds to the "mesh" in the main 3D window)

Then press CTRL + V to paste it into the destination mesh

Ooops ... we have an error! ... DON"T PANIC !!!

http://i1210.photobucket.com/albums/cc411/lrg1602/Skyrimage/tut1e.jpg

It seems that the two meshes have a couple of different NiNode's (or bones) so we need to transfer them across first

http://i1210.photobucket.com/albums/cc411/lrg1602/Skyrimage/tut1f.jpg

Highlight the NiNode (or bone) name that you made note of earlier (you DID make a note of it didn't you?)

And once again press CTRL + C to copy it and then CTRL + V to paste it into your destination mesh

Hmmm ... Something still seems not quite right ... Huh??? That's not what I just copied !!! .. .Err ... is it? ... It looks like It's in same place on the mesh ... but ... ...

http://i1210.photobucket.com/albums/cc411/lrg1602/Skyrimage/tut1g.jpg

The name that Nifskope gives the new NiNode (or bone) is purely random and doesn't mean anything really, it's just a text label so you can more easily find the various bones on the mesh.

However for the purposes of copying and pasting the name needs to be the same as the source mesh

So now we have the missing NiNode (or bone) copied over and renamed correctly, and here you need to use a bit of common sense as well before continuing, If it says that it can't map NiNode NPC L Clavicle, you can bet that the next error you get will say it can't map NiNode NPC R Clavicle, so obviously you need to look for what might be missing between the Source mesh and the Destination mesh before trying to past the armor in again

And if all else fails because you made a complete hash of everything with names and bones everywhere, just close the Destination mesh, reopen it and start again ... SLOWLY ...

Once you've copied over all the bits and pieces, you can feel free to rename any of the parts to your liking (WTF is a Clavicle?!?!? Looks like the neck or collarbone to me ...) and Also rename the main (0) mesh to "My_New_L33_T_Armor" if you like

Hope that clarifies things a bit ... As I've said before, this is still VERY new to me as well, so if anyone has any other advice or wants to point out a mistake, PLEASE (I beg you) do so ... I want to learn this stuff just as much as anyone else here

You know ... One of these days, I might actually finish the game with my current toon o_O ... As it is I'm having too much fun "cuten 'n' pastin" in Nifskope and playing about with textures ... :teehee:

My latest a**ing about project is a variation on Heavy Steel (Nord) Plate ... Steel Skintight Pants with a Steel Bustier, Pauldrons and Biceps Guards

Oh, and I borrowed the boots mesh from nevermind43's Restyled Armor here :Armor Restyled And did a new "Steel Plate" texture for them ... Can't have tight pants without High Heeled Boots after all ...

Nice one Perraine. but I think the Ebony mails shoulders would look better.

@FastestDogInTheDistrict Thanks for the link, That tutorial wasn't there when I started this topic. But I will post the link in the OP for others if they find this thread via the search tool.

Though of that, and even tried it (i was actually working on the Ebony Mail mesh at the time) but they didn't really seem to suit the "Heavy Steel Armor" theme as much as the normal Ebony Plate armor ... I may look at perhaps putting the Blades shoulders in there instead and perhaps put some or all of the loin cloth/skirt parts back in just for variety ... Back to playin' about ...
