bamfigms Posted January 13, 2012 Share Posted January 13, 2012 (edited) This mod may seem silly, but here goes anyhow. Skyrim has such a contrast in elevation. There are so many tall mountians and hills you can climb.... and then have to walk back down them. At first I was thinking how much I missed slowfall from morrowind. I have made a few parachute jumps, and went hang gliding as well. So all of skyrims beautiful high elevation got me thinking, you can be on top of the world and look down on it all in so many places, how awesome would it be to have a hang glider or a wing suit for skyrim? I love doing it in real life, so why not in game?I partially blame the semi batmanesque nightingale armor for making me think this. I think the hang glider would fit better in the game as wing suits are a fairly new invention, and hang gliders, or at least the wing shape has been around for many years. Also, I would immagine that the hang glider would be a much easier thing to animate. Some of the oldest hang glider designs are at least partially animal based, or appear to be. So a glider with dragon shaped wings, or at least textured with the same texture as dragon wings could be at less immersion breaking. A good hang glider gets a 12:1 ratio of distance traveled to drop. (moves 12 meters forward for every meter that it drops) This would really let you get some distance from places like high hrothgar or the throat of the world. I assume that I will have to learn how to mod this for myself (after the CK release), as mod requests are very hit and miss. If anybody has ideas or suggestions i would be more than happy to hear them. Also, if someone wants to take or use this idea (this should go without saying since its in the request forum) you are more than welcome to take it. So, does anyone have any thoughts? Sure, mods allowing you to fly by turning into a dragon or wearing a ring may offer full control, but being bound by a glider's limitations would be more fun and a tad more balanced.
