Ambient behavior

Is there a way to make two NPCs spar with each other? Also, my guards are not patrolling their waypoints. I can sent them to wander randomly, but they refuse to follow the patrol waypoints I set for them. Wandering randomly is wayyy unacceptable. They bump into walls and stand on benches. They look like idiots. I set the variables to enable the ambient system then put a 1 in the little box thing under AMBIENT_MOVE_PATTERN. My guards have the tags lhc_hvr_guard1 with a corresponding ag_lhc_hvr_guard1 _01, ag_lhc_hvr_guard1 _02, etc waypoint tags. All else works fine. My archers are shooting their targets, my shoppers are browsing the merchants' wares, and my ambient talkers are simulating talk/listen animations as they should. People just aren't walking where I tell them to walk. Any suggestions (besides kicking my pc)?
