Question about intimidation....

How does it calculate that? Does it go on persuasion or combat training, or does it go by strength? How much of what is needed to intimidate someone for GEN_INTIMIDATE_LOW (a PC around level 1 or 2)

I'm not on my 'toolset computer' at the moment, but per the DA Wiki explanation of Coercion skill scores:

Each tier in Coercion adds 25 points to the Warden's total Persuasion & Intimidation skill scores. Persuasion and Intimidation are also influenced by the Warden's cunning or strength attribute scores, respectively. Each point over ten in these attributes will add one point to the appropriate skill score. The following formulas may thus be used to calculate a desired score:

Persuasion = (25 * Coercion_Tier) + (Cunning - 10)

Intimidation = (25 * Coercion_Tier) + (Strength - 10)

If the required skill score is at least equal to the difficulty score needed, then the Warden is successful. There is no randomness involved. A skill score that is at least equal to the difficulty will always succeed while a skill score that is lower than the difficulty will always fail.

The difficulty ranks and required scores are:

Low - 25

Medium - 50

High - 75

Very Hard - 100

The character needs a flat 25 to pass a GEN_INTIMIDATE_LOW check, so one point in Coercion or, in lieu of that, at least 35 STR. (25 * 0) + (35 - 10) = 25

(Ooooh, math! Must do math! (under a cut b/c no-one cares and I'm probably not awake enough to be addin' and subtractin'...

My level 23 uglyface!Cousland *points at avatar* has four points in Coercion and a raw (not gear-enhanced) 54 STR/18 CUN:

Moira's Intimidation = (25 * 4) + (54 - 10) = 144

Moira's Persuasion = (25 * 4) + (18 - 10) = 108

At level 2 a single point in Coercion and a raw (not gear-enhanced) 20 STR/12 CUN:

Moira's Intimidation = (25 * 1) + (20 - 10) = 35

Moira's Persuasion = (25 * 1) + (12 - 10) = 27

TL; DR and not really to the point, investment in Coercion is really critical at lower levels, since meeting the requirements without that one point is almost impossible... while at L23, even if my Cousland had only invested three points in Coercion, she'd still easily pass Very Hard Intimidate checks [(25 * 3) + (54 - 10) = 119] and High Persuades [(25 * 3) + (18 - 10) = 83].

But...But...I don't wanna. Lol seriously thank you sky for the explaination. I had actually read that about the coercion, but I thought there had to be more to it than that for intimidation, perhaps relying on strength more than cunning. Oh well. I think I'll gonna different route since at most at that point the player would be a level 3, but most likely still a level 1. A rogue would have a distinct advantage over a warrior.
