Rimland
Which of the two armour sets do i choose? Basically play as a thief and silent assassin.. so leaning towards, well duh! The light armour, but it seems the Heavy has a better perk-thingy-a-mo-bopper, doo-hicky-tree, what-ch-McCall-it-constillation. Do I go with Heavy or Light... and both have a perk that makes armour weigh nothing suggestions anyone!
chanchan05
Light armor will still be sneakier than the heavy. Even with the perk, its still easier to detect the heavy armor guy because the armor "clinks" together, plus the unique light armors have another muffle enchantment, basically its like double muffle.. At least that's what the guys from Bethesda says. Of course you can always get Ebony Mail which is heavy but has muffle effect (its a Daedric artifact). faifh
Regarding speed and noise and all that: Heavy armor with all perks is like light armor with no perks. Notice how the light armor gives you stamina increase and that with perks.
Khorak
The Sneak tree gives you 50% muffle and you can cheerfully add more to your armour with Enchanting anyway. It's the Sneak perk tree that really does the work. Sneak becomes hilariously and implausibly epic pretty quickly so it's not exactly something to worry about. When it gets down to it, the choice between heavy and light armour is dependant upon how hard of a time you want of things initially. If you're being a sneaky archer, it's still laughably easy to sneak about with heavy armour because you don't even need to get close to your enemies, and can level your Sneak skill quickly with your bow attacks. If you're hoping to be stabbing people with daggers....yeah, without working up Sneak, that's gonna be a 'lolno' situation. They'll hear you every time. If you're willing to put in the extra work, then by going Heavy Armour initially you'll still end up basically undetectable to the daft AI eventually, which is possibly a bit meaningless because the best heavy armours make you practically invulnerable anyway. On the other hand, choosing Heavy Armour might also be meaningless because it's not long before you're DOVAHKIIN: SNEAK KING, and you'll forget what it's like to have things hit you as you run around in permanent stealth mode like a murderous ghost. chanchan05
Not to mention sneaking in heavy armor breaks the immersion. LOL.
billyro
I use light armour, because I enjoy running fast.
