Fkemman11
I'm seeing more mod authors pulling down their mods saying that they are being "targeted". What is going on and how can it be stopped? :pinch: Like this one; http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/5505/?
MellowBE
you know, this also happens in skyrim, and it's sad to see this happening. i'm finding out things from a user that got banned here on nexus mods for claiming things as his/her while they are not, and the more i search for specific armors, the more i can lay links from where that user took it. It's sad to see poeple being targeted by poeple who just steal others their work and don't ask for permission to use it.

Well, what i'm talking about here is already from quite some time ago, and the user in question was banned here, and so far i can see the person in question has stopped modding al together, but it was interesting to find out however. I just had randomly came across a armor that is being converted, and the user linked 2 sources from where the armor comes from (he isn't the thief however). i decided to check out the source links, and a few things i noticed: - while watching the original picture of that armor (which was made for the previous elder scrolls game) i saw things that look exactly like what the user in question (the thief) used, in her/his armors and claiming it as his/her. http://darigaz17.tumblr.com/tagged/downloads (scroll down untill you see the tribal looking girl with tattoo's) i was able to see 2-3 very suspiciously pieces of armor the thief claimed as her/his. Fkemman11
Yeah, I see them. So can anything be done? I mean is there some "action" that can be taken?
MellowBE
Yeah, I see them. So can anything be done? well, i don't know. Users who hide their mods because they notice they are getting targeted by thiefs, sadly enough retire from 'sharing' them with the public, they don't stop modding however, they just keep everything from themselfs. Also, the main problem is that everything is 'open', everyone can download the mods, can see all the meshes and textures and things being used, thus everyone can steal and use all the stuff. The only solution would be, and i don't know if that is even possible to begin with, is pack the files in a file that CANNOT be unpacked without messing up anything, but that still remains usable in-game. Sort of like scramble the contents so only the mod author knows whats-what and the like. Good idea! Mabey some kind of tool with a key-code. Yes, pretty much like that, only the modder should be able to see what is being used, but we as users of those mods, should not be even able to do anything else besides using it in our games. But why i say that may be a difficult thing, and perhaps even not possible, is because textures, meshes etc aren't the same as coding, for coding their are ways to 'encrypt' and 'compile' codes, essentially, making it usable, but reverting it back to original 'code' is nearly impossible. Fkemman11
Well, something should be done. We will just keep losing talented modders. AAAANNNNDDDD, I hate thieves of someone else's hard work.
