Madjack01
I've been playing vanilla Oblivion with no patches at all.Recently, I decided to start installing some mods, so I decided to do a complete reinstall to get updated to all the latest patches since the mods require them. The unpatched game ran fine on it's own.I have the GOTY edition, so installing the Shivering Isles stuff brought the Official patch up to speed. The game started up through the Launcher just fine. The Unofficial Oblivion Patch was also added smoothly. The Launcher worked fine. However, when I went to add the Unofficial Shivering Isles Patch, I encountered a problem. I installed the USIP. When I open up the Oblivion Launcher, it shows up as enabled.I can access all the other Launcher options (data files, options, etc.) but when I click Play, it tells me it can't find the Oblivion executable, and that I need to re-install Oblivion. However, when I go into my program files and click directly on the Oblivion application itself, the game starts right up. I've done a complete reinstall several times, installing the USIP both manually and with the OBMM... I've definitely determined that something about installing the USIP is borking up the Launcher. Research doesn't seem to have turned up any previous posts with this same issue, so I decided to start a new topic. I'm a bit of a knuckle-dragger when it comes to these things, so what am I doing wrong?
Oblivionaddicted
If none of your mods doesn't require the USIP why don't just use your GOTY without the unofficial patches?
Madjack01
I've been attempting to resolve this issue before installing any mods. The Oblivion patches page at Elder Scrolls Pages recommended installing the patch because it fixes a particular non-SI reference bug of some sort.
