[LE] Follower does not appear when quest is added

I am about 60% into a player house/follower mod.

I have built the player house, book shelf, mannequins, all that stuff.

I was able to add an NPC to said house.

TESTED THIS many times....

go to the house and NPC is there, she does not talk of course (no quest dialogue, no quest)

TEST this over and over.... making sure book case worked and lighting was good... all the time the NPC was there standing around (some sandboxing).

Then I decided to add quest and dialogue, following 2 different videos (DDproductions83 and Skyrim Romance)

get it complete then go to test in game and NPC is nowhere to be found??? not that the quest or dialogue would not work, that I would understand... but the NPC is not there?

So, before quest setup... house is there all looks good and NPC is walking around...... after quest, no error messages... house still there looks good...but no NPC.

Anyone have any idea what is going on? How can a quest stop an NPC from showing up???

Ok so I got her to appear by ref her to an xmarker..... but now the Quest does not start, I have it set that when I come within 500 units (it's a force greet) but nothing.

No help here so maybe I'll just use this as a journal as I correct my own issue.

You do have a navmesh, right?

My favorite in depth force greet tutorial, please enjoy.

Possibly the best Force Greet Quest Explanation EVER!, Now be honesty, how much better is that video, than the ones you watch? Also click on Antony name & watch all of his Creation Kit Video too.

Hot damn, an entire hour on forcegreets.

Hi flyddon,

a hundred times I experienced exactly that. Mostly it has to do with the package. After altering it, or the refenrence of the npc, it will be broken. For me it helps to delete the package and create it new. But it could have some other causes, too.

How do you start the quest? Is it start enabled or called by script? Make sure, it starts by put in a debug.notification or a log entry. Set the priority of the quest to 70. Sometimes it helped to restart the pc (not only creation kit, as there will stay relevant data in the cache!)

Create your package under the package section, not directly under actor. It should not be attached to him. Then create the reference in the render window. After that attach the package to the actor and link the reference. That should work. Create a new seq file, if quest is start enabled. Don't use a save that has your esp included. Sometimes your changes will be completly ignored by this, even you have no scripts attached.

Greetings, Tasheni
