Horrible Experience on Chat

I guess you missed this when you went into chat:

Note: this is not a support chat. This is a general chat about anything and everything (within the rules) that our members want to talk about. If you ask troubleshooting questions here don't expect (or demand) an answer. Ask nicely and someone might answer you (if they know the answer) but don't expect an answer and don't continually repeat your question.

Chat is fast paced, if no one answers you it is because they don't have the answer,d repeatedly posting the same thin will not get an answer. The sites have over 3 million members and there is what 30 to 40 in chat, chances are that no one is currently on that can answer you questions and you are better served using the forums.

Chat is for networking and instant communications among members, if someone has the answer to your question they will answer it, if not you will get no response.

Thx you for the information I always try to follow the rules on chat you guys just tend to act a little high and mighty from time to time but I will take your advice.

Hmmmm... Seven different people responded, only one (and not the first) was a member of Staff, and all said the same thing.

The average post count between them being a shade over 2300, I'd say they know their way around the Nexus.

It's not "high and mighty" for a close knit group of regulars to behave as one. But it is presumptuous of a newcomer to expect that everyone else is going to drop what they're doing to pay attention.

Basically I went on chat to ask a question about fallout 3 I guess I asked about three times so I did spam ... and got kicked the moderator said he didn't have to give out any warnings and I should of read the rules which I did I tried again once more

So you broke the rules, had it pointed out that you were breaking the rules, then went back and did it again? That appears to be what you are saying.

I read the rules and I don't need someone telling me multiple times

But you were told not to do it, then did it again anyway, or am I reading you wrong (genuine question)?

by the way you don't get results asking once

So if following the rules doesn't get you the result you want then don't follow the rules?

I'm sorry if this seems harsh, I do not mean to troll or provoke an argument and I may even have misunderstood your posts, but I want it to be clear that it isn't just some high and mighty clique oppressing you or disagreeing with you. I am an utter noob here, but not a noob to forums. From your own words - your own version of events - you knowingly broke the rules, repeatedly, because you decided getting an answer was more important, and you have not actually been banned or suffered any real penalty. I genuinely fail to see what your problem is. Maybe just that the moderator was rude, or treated you arbitrarilly?

Being a moderator is generally an utterly thankless task, done in someone's spare time out of goodwill, it's often 'easy' but is usually massively time consuming. The daily grind against spammers, trolls etc usually does not leave any time for friendly warnings, gentle nudges or advice without entire forums descending into Viagraland. Especially when someone comes back and does the exact same thing you've just told them not to do - that would get you flat out banned in a lot of places.

Once again, I am genuinely sorry if have misread you and will gladly retract my comments if this is the case, but it really does seem like you are complaining about the fact that the rules have to apply to you, and are more annoyed that you are not getting an answer than you are about anything else.

I got kicked off and I didn't even ask for any help. I wasn't spamming, either -- I was just talking to other people in the chat -- hell, I was even helping one of them troubleshoot a problem -- and I got kicked. Someone needs to get rid of whoever it is that polices that place, or otherwise change the rules that govern it. Edited by ooofbaer

Guessed you missed this when you entered chat:

Don't act like this is the chatroom for 4chan / Something Awful forums / some other chat room or forum you visit that lets you get away with anything

Additionally, from the TOS:

These moderators have a right to carry out their task without harassment, insult or hassle. Members who believe that a member of staff is not conducting themselves properly should get in contact with Robin via the forums or email. Know that if Robin receives word of any members harassing or being rude to Nexus site staff then he will take every action possible to permanently remove them from his sites.

I suggest you end this now.

I thought about this, but I don't exactly know where to go to contact him. Plus, I thought it would be good to have a discussion about this, instead of jumping for last resorts. Apparently not.

I suggest you end this now.
