els_lost
Ok, now, right now I got two issues I can't seem to resolve (outside of other, mesh-making troubles): 1. I can't make normal maps. Idon't have photoshop and the plug-in for Gimp (2.4.5.) won't work and I have no idea why or how to fix it. So any idea's or other free software/plug-ins I can use? Or do I have to go to an older version of Gimp? 2. http://img72.imageshack.us/my.php?image=towerguardlj2.png In NifSkope the skirt looks fine. Nice and white. However, in-game the skirt has a very transparant "coating" of the .dds file I used for a different (though similar) cuirass and I have no idea why or how to fix it. So, any help is most certainly appreciated. Any other help making this and the mod mentioned here , feel free to volunteer because it is greatly appreciated... SickleYield
Sounds like your skirt is probably using the normal map of the other file, yes? Otherwise it would be completely invisible or black ingame, since a texture won't display without a normal map. If you can't get normal map plugins to work, try CrazyBump to make them instead: http://www.crazybump.com/ Some people use this instead anyway because it can give very nice results. els_lost
Ok, I'll try the CrazyBump thing, thank you.The skirt itself currently uses one of the normal mappings from the game (the one of the monks-pants) and even it did use the normal map of the other file it would (probable) use the textures of the iron cuirass (which normal map I am still using for the cuirasses) and not the custom one or am I wrong? The mesh will use any normal map you tell it to. You should have a regular texture in your texture folder named mytexture.dds (or whatever). The normal map you want it to use must be called mytexture_n.dds. If you want to use a custom normal map you've made, you have to put it in the same folder as the main texture and name it to the name of your texture plus _n.dds . els_lost
Well, right now I have no custom normal maps to begin with. I'll try to make some with CrazyBump and see if that fixes the transparant use of the custom .dds, but somehow I don't thinks so considering there is no relation between that .dds and the skirt mesh outside of that they are in the same folder (totally different name though) and in the same plug-in. SickleYield
That being the case, you'd have to change the texture path using NifSkope if you want the mesh to use the new texture.
