ericjmz
1/31 Hi Playing SSE for < 1 month...and in last week noticed a weird error-phenomenaI am GUESSING its an error from a mod...thus posting my problem here...if you think its not, please suggest where I post it? here goes: 1. Some random objects, will have a German name...or just a weird nameexamples:a barrel in riftten, if highlighted, is named 'fass'-that's Germana skeleton in a cave, if highlighted, is named '666'-thats weird 2. I am not 100% certain that's been going ONLY going on < a week...I don't THINK its been going on since I replayed SSE < 1 month ago, but NOT certain 3. If I AM correct its a mod...like I accidentally installed (I use NMM) the German variant...the good news is I don't have all that many mods; I have 11...but some are BIG ones that interact with multiple aspects of the game...for example Cutting Room Floor & Immersive Armors...........................So...using that assumption, I looked at all my mods by highlighting in NMM main window; none have German names or textStill, I thought of the last 3 mods I installed, took one of them (Stones of Barenziah markers)...uninstalled (which I've been told to never do) & reinstalled one I was 100% certain was English No change; same '666' name to skeletons, same 'fass' german names to barrels............................................ Before I go any further, such as uninstalling mods one at a time, does anyone have any suggestions?(and no, I don't have any old saves that predate this problem)And if the only answer is to uninstall mods, please be clear in trouble-shooting whether I am to 'deactivate' only, or 'uninstall/delete' Like I first said, I'm only GUESSING its a mod problem, it may be something else take care ericjmz
Kroekr
Pull them up in SSE Edit, filter for conflicts and see what is re-naming your containers.
ericjmz
Thank youI've never done anything remotely that technical...but I DO like a challenge so this eve when home from work will try that Your gut feeling..?..Is it a mod issue? One mod in particular? ...and if yes to that disabling said mod will cure it- vs. the issue being 'baked into' my saves where nothing will cure it?Your 'gut'... Kroekr
It is a mod issue. I don't know if that will be baked into the save or not. Depending on the mod, you could possibly alter it with SSE Edit to your preferred language. Just make a backup before altering to save any possible grief. ericjmz
Thank youDownloadedFired it upI could see how (for me) its non-intuitive to start...which leaves me 2 questions:- As to 'Pull them up in SSE Edit, filter for conflicts and see what is re-naming your containers.' 1. Do I 'pull them up' what at a time,or shift click on all of them?2. when I 'filter for conflicts'...am I looking for ANYTHING that says the word 'German'...or am I looking for something else? These are all 'Discovery phase' questions, counselor...I'm no where near the 'fix phase'In fact if I could just DISCOVER the culprit mod, I would first try disabling the mod...and if that didn't work uninstalling the mod...seems to me safer than trying to 'edit' a mod......at least for a newbie to this like myself ericjmz
Kroekr
Start SSE Edit Put a check mark in the box by the mod(s) name you suspect (or just do them all). Once loaded, right click in left panel and select apply filter for conflicts Try and find your problem.
ericjmz
Solved! -) it WAS a mod...and it WAS one mod onlyand the German nomenclature was NOT 'baked-in'...I deleted the mod and all was good. The mod was a house mod called 'House Nocturnal'...only version 1.0 available; there was no German variant, so it was not what I thought (downloading the wrong language version) but just the mod itself, periodI'll drop a note to the mod author momentarily. Admittedly not successful in interpreting the myriad info given in SSE Edit But I WAS successful following this method: 1. deactivated all mods....problem went away2. then the sleuthing...deactivating 1/2...finding which half...whittling my way down to the one mod only...which was one of my more recent mods Thanks for all the help; very much appreciated ericjmz
