MarcD2K20
I don't get the complaints about the Skyrim quest log It tells you what locations you have to go to, and what item you have to find/person to kill. I didn't even notice. Apparently people don't get involved in quests enough to remember them, so they want to read in their journal that they've "spoken to X who has asked them to help them with Y by talking/getting/killing Z" and not just "Get Z" this is exactly what i would like. The regular quests do it, but the misc ones don't. I've usually got about 50 misc quests in my list and there is no way to tell what that quest is for. Some sort of description, like what the original quest was, would be helpful. Returning to the game after a week and seeing 10 quests like "return to ...." turms the game into a hunt for a quest marker.

Add to the mix trying to avance the main story, and having to pause to advance real life, it is easy to forget what a quest is. I don't want a one-liner "go to this town and talk to so and so" with a marker on the map and over the guys head. It makes the side quests tedious and boring. Like marc said, its a find the marker game instead of a mini story. No, I want to read the log and say "oh yeah, I doing this for this guy and need to get this info from that guy" It worked in Morrowind, it worked in Oblivion, there is no reason it wouldn't work in Skyrim. It isn't 'not getting involved with the quest' - I want to get more involved and this is preventing that. It'd actually be pretty hard to improve because you'd have to go through all the quest entries and make them more detailed. I mean it's not complicated but it would certainly be tedious, plus add in the potential that the radiant quests wouldn't even track which X told you to kill Y, etc.No, I think they have enough detail as is, you just need to be able to see the completed steps. I've personally never come across difficulty with the journal O.o as others have said, the descriptions may be short and sweet but they tell you all you need to know. yeah but apparently people want instructions like 1. take 50 feet outside of Markarth2. walk 1mile south3. climb the hill in front of you4. etc.5. etc. They want step by step directions or else Bethesda is "lazy"No, relying on the quest markers is the lazy way to play. I just want history. like mrnukem, my memory isn't so great. Edited June 12, 2012 by mjhorton
