Modded Game: Random CTDs outside

Also, unchecking the files alone may not be enough.

Try uninstalling them completely. Like if you were doing a complete removal and reinstall.

I have never used Mod Organizer so I can't really say how to do anything on there, but I would guess it's similar to NMM.

You renamed the Fallout4.ini to Fallout4.ini?

Actually, I think it just renamed them to (".ini.ini") (or ".INI.ini"),

causing the game to automaticall recreate standard settings.

No secure idea though, I was completely confused by why or how it suddenly worked...

Hmm. What you did was a step we usually do when diagnosing ini issues, which is to delete or move or rename your ini files and that causes the game to recreate them basically.

What may have happened is that you may have tweaked or a mod may have added an ini addition at some point, and if it did, and you removed the mod, or updated and the tweak needed to change with it, then that may explain why the game was a bit more stable after the ini refresh.

What I would suggest, if you can stomach it, is to start a completely new character. Keep your old one, but start a new one after you completely disable ALL mods. So basically completely vanilla game. And see if you get the crashes. If not we can start narrowing down which mod is the culprit.

MO claims, as far as I understood it, to not fiddle with your Fallout files, but rather install the mods virtually on startup via "hooking" - so uninstalling the mods completely should not change much of the behaviour.

Ill try it though.

If that wont help Ill try to run the game from the basics again, disabling all mods then enabling one after another.

(I doubt its the savefiles, since the same files ran on NMM as i did a new installment of the mods.)

Update:

Disabling all mods by starting a new profile did make the game more stable, but it still crashed after few minutes.

Heres the crashlog, i had to crop some out of it because its too long:

As I expected, its mostly missing mods (i choose to crop them out instead of the stuff i didnt understand).

Ill now try to run the game on a new character for testing.

Another update:

Starting a new game worked this time, (load vanilla profile with new character)
[*EDIT* fixed: Nvidia drivers were acting up after an update*/EDIT*
but ive still had some issues with shaders depicting the character hands as strongly shaded and the pip-boy too, making it partially unreadable.]

I did not crash this time - heres the log (I alt-F4'd to desktop).

Ill work out wether this profile works for the old safefiles aswell or not later today.

However, playing a new character isnt an option for me. Ive just spend too much time on the old game to enjoy having to start completely anew.

Is there a way to fix such crashy savefiles?
I cant go back to relatively recent savefiles either, because Bethesda geniusly doesnt let you save more than 3 autosaves and thats the only savefile you can have with HC.
All 3 are within "the last 15 minutes" ingame.

Again I have never used MO, only NMM, and NMM directly edits and or adds files to Fallout.

If MO is trying to do some snazzy "hooking" and is not actually adding these files to the Fallout directory where they need to be, then no wonder it has problems.

Afaik most authors make their mods for use with NMM, and how NMM installs files.

You downloaded the game through Steam? Perhaps you need to go verfiy game files using Steam. If it's crashing even with everything then I'd wonder if it's not game files that are corrupted somewhere, and papyrus wouldn't tell us that.

Aaand another update:
It might not be the savefiles.

Ive started the same profile with the old game,
crammed all my inventory into a workbench
except some positively not modded weapons and armour -
and now the game runs fine for 15 mins.

It looks werid, is less optimized and has half the content, but it runs. Basically Vanilla except dogmeat is still with me and my companion.
[*EDIT* the game CTD'd when dogmeat got into bleedout by falling off a railway once again]
Which is weird as fuggery and i dont understand anything anymore.

Well I do understand stuff, but still...
Apparently, the crash is/was caused by something in my inventory,
if that makes any sense.
Or maybe the particular missing of a mod of something in my inventory.

Im verifying my files via steam now as recommended, and ill look further into it this evening.
