TaliXantis
So everyones done it. They've walked into a set of ruins and it's been all lit and cozy. But does anyone find it strange that there is lit candles and big basins of fire? I find it rather annoying, I mean why would they put all these light spells and torchs into the game if the player never use the. I know there is the time when you fire a magelight at a dragon while pissing around, and theres those times when a mage places a trap and you use the old magelight trick to get by it. But inless your roleplaying or trying to fight with a torch when is it ever really needed? If there is no answer I guess we can only say that Draugr are affraid of the dark. Why else would they light up underground caverns that haven't been entered for a few hundred years?
a7x5631
A few lighting mods pretty much make you use the torch in ruins/caves, unless you want to run into walls constantly. The vanilla colors are way too bright anyways.
justwannaddl
Agreed on the overuse of lit candles and torches in dungeons. It would have made far more sense if the player had to light them as they went along.
Sanbru
The Draugr need the light so they can train properly. http://cdn.hometheaterforum.com/9/99/99c9bcde_75543.jpeg

Perraine
What I found even more amusing is that some of the Followers have this same phobia ... Just try and get Aela to drop her torch at night (and AFAIK almost all the various followers will use the torch if you trade one with them) but Aela comes with hers and won't give it up no matter what ! ...I also find it amusing (speaking of phobias) that one of the Companions (Farkas? or Vilkas) is afraid of spiders Lol ... This got me to thinking though, aren't The Circle of Jorrvaskr corrupt for worshiping a Daedra (Hircine)?
huntsman2310
No they don't worship Hircine. They only carry a curse associated with him. Wouldn't matter to fanatics like the Vigilants of Stendarr though.

Maybe not at some decked out hunting altar in the Bloated Mans Grotto, but that's her 'god'. Edited January 18, 2012 by R3Q
Mi7Sama
I love Bethesda games and Skyrim is very awesome, but this is one thing they always mess up. There are always some little details that destroy the atmosphere. Fully lit dungeons although they haven't been entered for 191029 years is just one of those many details. Maybe there will be a mod some day that fixes this and extinguishes all the candles and torches in several dungeons, haha.
