xjpattonx
When I download any modding tool and unpack I only get the executable, never the batch file. (I never get a .txt file either but I don't care about those, still it shows something is wrong) I see everyone using these tools in videos and even in written tutorials it talks abouit the .bat files so I know you're suppose to get them. For example with Nif Optimizer you're when you unpack it after manually downloading it you get the ,exe and a batch. I believe it's called something like check all subfolders.bat. Same thing with Nifscan/Nifmodify, you're suppose to get a .bat file. No matter what I use, winzip, 7zip, winrar etc. or how or where I unpack these tools I always just get the exe. I never get the batch files which I want and need. I've been told by some to just use command prompt but regardless it doesn't explain why I do not get these batch files. Can anyone think of any legitimate reason? And if nobody has an answer can somebody please send me these .batch files. Especially for nif optimizer and nifmodify I really need the .bat's for those in particular. Edited February 4, 2017 by xjpattonx
ousnius
You watched a video tutorial that was made before my optimizer got its user interface. You don't need a batch anymore, you just run the .exe and choose your folder (don't choose your entire Data or Meshes folder). xjpattonx
as far as optimizer goes Ok I'll go with that. But if I have a folder of meshes I want to convert with say Nifscan for example how do I do that. I read the instructions it just says drop the .exe in the folder basicially and gives a few command prompts but I need a very noobish detailed explaination of how exactly to use some like Nifscan that has no GUI?. When I drop it in a mesh folder and try to open it it won't open when I click on nifscan.exe it just flickers but it doesn't actually stay open. If I open a command prompt inside that folder and just type nifscan it will say it scanned x number of files but it doesn't seem to actually convert anything, just scan them. Keep in mind I'm very new to all of this, just looking for some help to get started. And what do you mean by don't choose the entire folder? I probably need to know how to even open and work it before I get to that but just asking. And as far as you meant by just run the .exe with SSE Optimizer you mean just open the GUI and click ''optimize'' correct? with the 3 things checked already checked including subdiretories I image.
