Searching for a single shoe or boot resource

Hi everybody!

I am searching for a modders' resource with a single shoe or boot mesh/texture. It should not be static (i.e. one should be able to pick it up), but as it must be a single item, not a pair, I guess that I won't find such a thing under clothing.

I've already searched a lot through the clothing, misc and clutter resources that are listed in this excellent thread at bethsoft, but haven't found anything.

So I hope that somebody can give me a hint.

Any idea?

Thanks!!

Should be fairly easy to modify an existing shoe ground mesh to remove one of the shoes. I've never had need to do it, but I can't see how it would take more than a minute or so in Blender.

Thanks for the answer! You're probably right. I should give it a try, though I am quite unskilled with Blender. I'd dare to edit the vertices etc., but I have never gathered experience in exporting everything back to a nif and into the game.

Maybe it can be done in NifSkope already? Thad would be easier for me. Though I doubt that simply deleting a branch or so will produce a valid and texturable mesh.

Anyway, what I am specifically looking for is something like an old, gnawed and torn leather boot. It's meant to become a dog's "favourite toy" in my quest. So I am not sure whether any existing boots mesh will be suitable for it. But I could try the regular leather boots for a start.

Blender's actually farily easy to use. Not the simplest to install and set up, I'll grant you, but once you're in, Blender has all the correct defaults for importing/exporting NIF's already set. Here's a really fast-&-dirty walkthru:

  • So, import your shoe/boot NIF
  • left click the shoe you want to delete, then hit "Tab" on your keyboard
  • hit "B" to set your cursor to a selection box, drag over all the vertices of the shoe you want to delete
  • hit "X" to delete the selected vertices
  • hit "Tab" again to get out of editing mode, then hit "A" to select everything
  • Export your NIF.

There are some fantastic walthru's available on YouTube. If you search "blender simple sword", and watch the 3-part video by HMGenzel, they're great and you'll learn a lot.
