Murdoc419
Hey guys I'm starting my second run through. My first is Anders, a Nord two-handed warrior with heavy armor, smithing, speech, and some restoration. I haven't finished the game with him yet because quite honestly the build is a bit boring to me. I already have most of my build planned out for my second character. I'm going for an assassin type with some illusion magic. He's also going to be a vampire. So far the skills I'm going with are max sneak, everything in illusion except for dual-casting, some enchanting (the first 5 and then the increases for armor enchants and double enchants) and some smithing (steel smithing just to get to Arcane Blacksmith). Do you think 1 handed or Archery would go best with this build? I think either one could work but I don't want to do both because I might put some points into alchemy or something. So which one do you think would compliment this build best?
FordPerfect
My assassin is a master sneak/thief/alchemist/illustionist/pickpocket/onehander/marksman. Invisibility + daggers = kill everything, never be seen. sneak + bows = kill everything before you're found. alchemy+sneak+pickpocket = poison your targets. Illusion+sneak = make everyone in the cell attack each other - laugh diabolically from the shadows.
Murdoc419
I think I may just go with daggers. At a range I'm probably going to be more focused on casting illusion spells rather than shooting arrows. So I'll basically just stay hidden while making as many enemies kill each other and then come in with my daggers and clean up. Is there any point in going any further into smithing? I know you get great armor for an assassin with the Dark Brotherhood and I'll probably end up with Blade of Woe and ____ Razor (can't remember the name) will I be able to upgrade these items to legendary or will I need more smithing perks? pastafrola
Enchanting and alchemy in the same build may consume too much perk points IMO. I prefer enchanting perked and boost potions with "fortify alchemy" enchanted gear. And for the initial question:-One handed: Armsman 5/5 - Fighting stance 1/1 (the basics for both, stealth and no stealh offense.-Archery: Over draw 5/5 (just power, no extra effects, you will deal damage through sneak attacks and poison)In dragon fights just run for cover and shoot :P
