jonfitzsimmons
I want to get some feedback on my build. Since Skyrim is so flexible and there really aren't any custom classes, I'd like to hear from you so I can improve this build. I'd like to know what you think. How it can be improved. If Conjuration is going to be an acceptable main form of offense. What quest lines I should follow. What type of character you classify this as (Cleric? Paladin? Warlock?) And anything else you'd like to say. I am into a little roleplay, such that I like sticking to one type of weapon or style of play. Here's the build (Level 10 after about 45 minutes of gameplay): Altmer Focus on magicka and eventually stamina Conjuration as leading offense (I don't play on using any bounded weapons)Alteration for armour Two-handed for last resort (right now my Familiar lasts about 10 seconds in fights, so this is usually what finishes an opponent.)Archery - only used when hunting natural enemies (wolves, foxes, etc.). Also used on dragons because I don't have a ranged magic. Enchant and Alchemy. I don't wear amour, only clothes/robes. A little bit of background on my play style:My character tends to wander and explore the natural world (the main quest is secondary right now, focusing on levelling). He has a certain respect for nature in that he only uses his bow when he hunts. He always takes everything from the animal he kills, as it would be a waste and an insult to the Gods if he did not. I usually do a fake little ritual after I kill an animal, waiting for the ball of light spell so I can add some extra effects. I rely on the land for survival. I live off of animals that I hunt and make potions from the plants that I find. When I'm fighting opponents, I summon what ever I have, throw on a magical armour (right now it's oakflesh lol), and pull out my hammer ( ;) ). I'm aiming for the hammer to be my last line of defense, but at a low level it's difficult because I can only spawn a familiar. I want to be able to sit back and provide support for my follower and only go in to attack when it's in trouble or the enemy is close to death. I'm going for the native (although my race does not reflect that) lover of the land and sort of ritualistic character type. chanchan05
If your not going to use bound weapons, your just gonna summon an atronach and watch it? That's going to be difficult, not to mention when you encounter a sabre cat. I am currently on a run through using a no Destruction, Conjuration mage (bound weapons and summons) at level 17, and sabre cats can beat flame atronachs, especially if you encounter a dragon. At least with bound weapons, you can deal additional damage which can be increased by perks in the warrior tree (swords or bows).
Moredhel
Yeah, the subtitle told me you'd go Conjuration + 2h for the bound battleaxe, Alteration to beef up your robes' armor, Archery for the ranged combat (might as well do bound bow for that!) but I hardly read about that in your post, save for the archery comment. Just get conju for the awesome perks (2x the damage, half the casting cost, soultrap AND banish summons!!!) jonfitzsimmons
Hmmm thanks. I saw a video of some guy summoning the dremora lords and he said it was over powered. I really plan on levelling to that point before I continue playing the main quest line if that's at all possible.
chanchan05
I'm actually on a similar build. No destruction magicka, just bound weapons and summons, plus illusion, alteration and restoration. I do bring along two swords and a bow for emergencies when I get stuck with no magicka and a number of enemies in front (I'm on Master level. I'm on my way actually to Riften to get Frost the horse, with the No Fast Travel handicap on me).
jonfitzsimmons
So i faced a ice sabre cat or what ever today (I'm still only level 12) and it destroyed my flame atronach, as you said. The thing is, I don't think it would fair well as soon as I summon a dremora lord. And also, once I can swing my hammer with a relatively good strength i should be able to tackle it. My problem is the HP, but that can be covered with alchemy, no problem.
chanchan05
You'll get the Dremora Lord when your Conjuration hits 90, for the Master quest. Not sure really, but that should be around level 30-ish, or even 40-ish depending on how much you level up your conjuration skill. For saber cats, I just cast Fear or Calm on them then the atronach and I fire away.
Chaosrex
Yeah if you don't plan on using Bound weapons, using Fear,Paralyze or Calm spells is the way to deal with stronger opponents. And as much as i respect the fact you want to play without Bound weapons, they are also a good way to gain extra and fast xp in Conjuration, each time you cast it next to ennemy mobs, or swing it on mobs you gain xp. At lvl 15 i allready was like 80 in Conjuration, this way, by using Dual Bound Swords,Animal Spirit summon and Reanimation. You go it if you want to gain fast lvl in Conjuration , then never use it again. The Mage Armor Perk is perfect for a Cloth wielding char, you ca even use a mod that double the effect of the Mage armor perk. As well a mod that makes Arrows gloxs in the dark or like in the Tytanis mod, elemental/magic arrows.
