billyro Posted January 21, 2012 Share Posted January 21, 2012 I don't know if this happens to anyone else, but my SkyrimPrefs.ini file keeps resetting to default values every time after quitting Skyrim. I find it really annoying, because I have tweaked the ini a lot to fix shadows and some other annoying things in the game. So, I change the ini and play the game. It works all good until I close the game and play it again. I thought that the game looked a bit different so I checked the .ini again, and it was all defaulted. Is there a way to lock the .ini so it never changes? I would rather not have to overwrite the ini before I play every single time just so I can enjoy the game. My main suspicion is my computer clock, which reverts to February 20, 2009 at 12:26 am a lot of the time I start the computer up. I don't know if this reverts file back or not, but yeah it could be possible. Any help is appreciated. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

egamar Posted January 21, 2012 Share Posted January 21, 2012 Are you making changes to the correct file? There are two. The one in "My Games" (or similar) is the one to edit. I do wish folks would stop posting daft suggestions about making it 'read only'. A little knowledge is truly;y a dangerous thing.
