Jaxx050
Basically, I was thinking about all the people who make massive item containers for when you're moving around that carry thousands of pounds of gear, so that you can freely loot any and everything with no repercussions, and then there's the vanilla game's version of the dropboxes where things can get shipped between various points on the map. The problem is, the vanilla ones are completely and utterly useless because most people aren't even near those points in their normal play, and the mod containers are flat out cheat items that do not fit in with the game and remove a lot of the challenge of trying to inventory manage. So, I thought about a middle ground. The first thought I had was having an actual, literal courier service, where you had an inventory item that could pop in an NPC that you could offload stuff you wanted to send, or something similar, and then the destination would be a custom container you could place yourself, anywhere you like. I imagine that second bit is the hardest, but I know it's possible so it's up to creators to decide the best method for how they want to do it. You could have the basic function in place then make it an earned thing, like through a quest, and then have it need upkeep, like weekly caps or paying the courier for the amount of weight you send off. If anyone knows of something very similar to this, I'd appreciate a shout out on it. Ideas and such are also welcome.
Snipa299
I think the easiest way to do this is, rather than having an NPC follow you, you could craft some sort of item at a workbench. You could use some materials like a fission battery, electronics, scrap metal, caps (as payment) and have that as a one use droppable that creates a container. Then after a set amount of time, like say one whole day, the container despawns after teleporting all the items to your desired location. Another alternative is the currently existing Bury Your Treasure mod, which allows you to use a small trowel to bury your stuff so you can collect it again later. There's also another mod by the same author that creates a beacon so you don't lose track of where you stash your stuff.
Jaxx050
I wasn't thinking an actual NPC follower so much as a summoning item a lot like the vanilla game's NCR Radio, that lets you call people in as a one time reusable item. That way you can avoid issues with NPC interaction or stuff like the DLC's no companions allowed, but still have it be something "realistic" in that it's a person taking your gear somewhere else, as opposed to an infinite wormhole bag that simply tunnels everything to a box somewhere that you've placed. If it's between one or the other for it actually getting made, though, I'll take a wormhole.
Mktavish
How about a robot with a chance of being ambushed on the way back. But you can upgrade it to lessen the chance ?
Jaxx050
I think a good example of how to do stuff with the receiving container could be at http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/42239/? Portable gadgets since it has a good framework already.
