nemtek
Hi all, so I really like the idea of making a custom standalone weapon with its own custom textures and meshes. I have scoured the internet on how to use CK to make weapons but only thing I keep finding is using FO4 Edit. I thought the CK was supposed to be a more user friendly streamlined way of making mods. Can anyone help me out? I'm really turned off by the notion of having to use several outside programes like photoshop and I forget the othe used in conjunction with FO4 Edit. I've already made soem pretty pathetic vanilla re-hashes just to practice editing vanilla weapons. I wantot step up my game and make some truly outstanding weapon mods that I know folks would love. I just dont know how to do it with CK. Please help a newbie modder out :
N7R
When you mean making standalone weapons in CK do you mean scratch built ones? If so CK won't do that, its simply made to assemble a finished model. You'd still need programs like photosho/gimp and a 3d application to model and texture your mod. CK does not have any design tools to create models/textures.
nemtek
Well thats just dissapointing. What good is this "Creation Kit" if you can't even "Create??" smh. Ive looked up these programs you wre talking about and it looks like a whole lot of time consuming work. Very discouraging to newbie modders who dont have that kind of time to invest in making a weapon mod. Smh well it looks like I just need to focus on making the Vanilla weapons awesome somehow. Like a vanilla weapons project overhaul. Thx for the info though.
N7R
Yeah Creation Kit never was about making scratch made content. Making new models/assets for a game is going to take a lot of time and skill to do that requires multiple non-fallout 4 programs. Creation Kit is merely a tool to modify values, scripts, assets placement, etc of stuff inside Fallout 4 already. While you can certainly create things such as new quest lines or modify vanilla weapons to make them play differently in Creation Kit its not a program design to do 3d modeling or any sort of thing like that. To do something like make a new firearm or have custom animations that will take many weeks using programs that are not associated with or owned by Bethesda. nemtek
Well that's a let down. Then I will focus on re-tooling the vanilla weapons. I will make Vanilla Weapons Great Again.
greekrage
Well that's a let down. Then I will focus on re-tooling the vanilla weapons. I will make Vanilla Weapons Great Again. Its perfectly logical that the CK isnt made to create OTHER assets...Its sole purpose is to create using its OWN assets for its OWN world..Other wise it would be a "3rd party app" that you would be using to make stuff for other uses outside of bethesda...
