Martial arts in Skyrim

Almost all enemies have weapons - I don't think martial arts can stand against weapon users in battle (although not being a martial artist I can't be absolutely sure). It would be good though. On another note I wonder how easy it would be to mod in different weapon styles and allow you to switch between them?

Well there are also mods that allow you to craft unarmed weapons to deal more damage, so there are solutions for that.

What I would love to see is more cinematic kills, especially for unarmed. There's so much possibilities for that.. I'm thinking neck breaking, more throwing, kicks, something like the shield bash but then a slam with the shoulder or something..

I know this is probably really hard but it would be awesome lol.

The link is about an mma guy that recently was attacked by a guy with a knife. His hand was cut very badly, but he beat the everloving crap out of the dude.

There is a difference between a guy with a knife and a guy holding two axes.

I am addicted to MMA and it does seem like it would be hard to animate a lot of sweet moves it would be cool to have mma gloves in the game to wear just for fun. I am thinking of getting into modding soon. I can 3d model but dont know much on modding for Skyrim right now.

I only kind of know how to work it in Maya, but you can use kinect as a basic mocap tool that actually works pretty well.

OMG, Mind blown. Never thought that you could use kinect to capture animations. That would halve the work right?

Found this http://kinect.dashhacks.com/kinect-hacks/2011/02/09/kinect-motion-capture-tracking-fbx-and-cinder

well its commonsence if you dont have a weapon you need to take your opponents on in a different style you cant just walk up and start punching him. you gotta charge in there and drop kick that motherf*@ then proceed to kick the sh*# out of him. good luck animating it tho just pointing on you can take someone on if they have a sword,knife,ect.....

Here is a link to a forum where I proposed an idea similar to this (if not the same). I think the conversation could spur ideas on this forum. go to Fighting Styles in Tytanis Forum for video and dialogue.

---Very basics for those not wanting to read another forum---

Different styles of martial arts/fighting each would have different strengths and weaknesses as well as animations.

Different styles would include the use of hand-to-hand and weapon variants.

Factions in the game would prefer one style, e.g. Thalmor would use a different style than Forsworn ect.
