Texturing tutorial FOR Skyrim?

When you have made a normal map you think is good, try adding a specular map to the alpha channel, it filters out a lot of the plastic shininess.

you can also add a specular map with a good metallic scratches texture in the background, looks absolutetly nice on weapons :)

is an ok way to make those specular maps.

I just started texturing and modeling and this small tutorial gave me a lot of perspective on the texturing part and the outcome looked nice.

As he says in the tutorial, you need to play around abit, adjusting comparing, save your work so you can go back. His way of doing it might not suffice for your textures. but i promise you, specular as alpha on weapons makes them look very nice!

Can't solve it :(

Updated infos to my problem:

- my own model

- no _m.dds (even with one or blacked out alpha in _n i get a similar result)

- i used the ebonysword.nif as carrier for testing purposes, tried different cubemaps - atm chitin_e.dds

- has normals/vertex colors:yes, UV 4097

This is how i saved the normal map (Mudbox):

PS DDS Plugin:

I just set up a plain orange diffuse, placed black strokes on it and saved it this time using the Photoshop normal map plugin and exactly the same error...

so i guess it's not the Mudbox saving or dds options, nor the normal map itself - i'll check out the nif or set up a new one.
