Mojave Poker Series

Now I'm guessing that if a playable poker mini game were possible it would already exist, so that's not what I'm asking for, though I would love to be proven wrong. Instead what I propose is a series of poker related quests that run throughout the game. Here is my rough idea:

It starts when you meet three men sitting at a table in the Goodsprings saloon. You ask what they are doing and the leader X* tells you how he set up this poker game as part of the new Mojave Poker Series and how they are waiting for the fourth and final player, Y* who is a no show. At this point you offer to track him down for a small fee. You find him, or what's left of him just outside Goodsprings, killed and robbed by Powder Gangers. You report back to to break the news and for payment. You can end the quest here and walk away, or offer to stand in for Y*. At this point there are dialog options to elect how much you want to bet, you then have to pass a check for either charisma, luck, perception or intelligence to win. If you beat them X* is impressed and tips you off to another game, this time in Primm.

I've got more, but wanted to see if there's any interest before typing out an essay. Basically the idea is that you start out small and work your way up to the big leauges in Vegas, with increasing S.P.E.C.I.A.L checks and increasing rewards, where you have to do increasingly difficult tasks to gain admission e.g. delivering stuff, finding poker supplies, scouting poker houses, clearing out raiders, robbing rival series' games etc. There's fertile ground for all kinds of cool dialogue stuff to bluff, psyche people out etc, but I'm not sure exactly hownit would work.

Unfortunately I'm pretty inept technically so wouldn't know where to start with this but I can write. So if you're the opposite and can mod but suck at writing, let me know.

*haven't decided names yet, but they will be references to Old West players for example 'wild Bill' Hickok.

OK so I've come up with some rough characters. In order of appearance:

'Yo-yo' Bill Haycock - The first character that you meet, becomes the Courier's friend and mentor. He's a middle aged gambling veteran who has gotten rich and gone bust more times than he can count. He's currently somwhere between the two and is working his way back up the ladder by playing small time games in backwater towns. Prone to both incredible wins and catastrophic losses, hence the name. Been in the game his whole life, ever since his daddy introduced him to various gambling passtimes and scams on the streets of Reno. Owes a large amount of caps to Mr Benson, the founder of the Mojave Series. He's working off part of his debt by helping to set it all up. Proclivities for high stakes and fiesty women, implied past relationship with 'Poker' Annie. Rogueish, weak for his vices, probably not a good idea to lend him caps, but ultimately a decent man, will go out of his way to help folk and make friends.

Jed - One of the Goodsprings players, no fancy back story, just a generic cowboy type character to fill a seat, doesn't even need dialogue.

Rusty - Same as above really, more of a wastelander/prospector type

'Shanghai' Charlie - Friend of Bill, supposed to be playing in Goodsprings, killed by Powder Gangers so you never even see him alive, no need for dialogue.

Eugene - Runs the games in Primm out of a backroom in the Vikki and Vance casino. Local bookmaker and loanshark. Pretty straightforward underworld type character, if it's not about caps, he ain't interested.

Jack Hackett - Mean drunk who decided to steal a bunch of poker supplies from Eugene's den after a bad losing streak. Courier is sent to track him down and get the supplies to gain admission to the Primm game, whether by indimidation, bribery or just shooting the bastard. So drunk he can barely speak, just yells BOOZE! at you repeatedly.
