seweryn
Hey,So i wanted to ask moderators and administrators if it is possible of course. Will ACTA will affect nexus sites in any way since you can say that modding is using copyrighted content so if they will have the power to block it will they block nexus sites.I have been using nexus since 2006 and I very much love it. It would be a shame if the sites would disappear from the net. So I would like to hear you opinion on this. Sew
Werne
I've heard about SOPA and PIPA but what in the world is ACTA?

Vagrant0
With all these, will deal with them as we can. Not sure if you've noticed, but SOPA seems to have moved all these issues to the front and there is a war of sorts being mounted. We will continue doing what we can to keep the site going, but will just have to ride out the storm as best as we can. If it means taking down thousands of mods that infringe on IPs because of some large request or action, that is what we'll do. I seriously doubt it will come to that in the end, but it is one solution. In the meantime, voice your concerns about these bills to your governments, sign petitions, try to vote out these fools who support these things and spread the word. It would be a pity to see modding falling down to this law.
SeveQ
All you people being concerned of any negative influence that ACTA, SOPA, PIPA and the like might have on this site and modding in general: STAND UP AND FIGHT! It's not only this site that is heavily endangered by these and other laws. It's our freedom of speech in its very foundations, nothing less! Inform yourself! Read about what really concerns people about it! ACTA, SOPA, PIPA will give rightowners the permission to shut down ANY website that has any kind of connection to another website that might share material that is not permitted by the owners. They are permitted to do that without requirement of judicial authority. It only requires them to request a takedown from the hoster of the regarding website. That's basically censorship, nothing else.
bben46
What the copyrights holders (NOT the artists) are doing is throwing a lot of money at various governments to get the ability to control the internet by being able to shut down any site they please just by claiming infringement and not having to go through a court of law or getting an injunction from a judge. The fact that so many of these type laws are showing up all at one time shows they have declaired unilateral war against the internet. We now know of 3 of these laws - how many more will be proposed by their bought off legislators in various other countries? Rupert Murdoch, owner of NewsCorp and FOX TV network, has openly complained about politicians not doing what he paid them to do in the SOPA fiasco. This is the same billionare who has managed to stay out of jail after being caught telling his people to tap phones in England (and who knows how many other countries)

In the UK we already have this insidious legislation;- The Digital Economy Act When Peter Mandelson is involved in anything (he introduced the Bill) you just know it stinks, he was ever one for greasing up to big business moguls, as that Wikipedia article illustrates. However, our two largest ISP's, BT and TalkTalk, have actually taken up the fight on this.

The courts ruled that an IP alone is not enough to prove wrong doing, this pretty much leaves a lot of it unenforceable.
