The only trouble I see with these well-intentioned threads is that they invariably turn into threads full of spoilers. Someone will ask "how do I get past mega-baddie to get the ultra-weapon?", or "where do I go to get to the next phase of multi-step quest?". And from there it spins out of control and its usefulness as a help thread is over.

OK WE GET IT... some of you don't like the idea of this thread. Everyone is entitled to opinions, and you have expressed yours. Now, if you don't have something to ask or a question to answer, can you leave? You're basing an opinion of the idea for this thread on the "possibility of something negative". I have a better idea... think of it as a "possibility for something positive"... Perspectives can change and if you stop thrashing the thread before it does any of the negative things you mentioned, maybe you'll realize it's a cool idea after all.

Personally, I think it's a great idea. I'll be using it every time I have a question rather then posting a new topic... and if there is a problem with that then the mods will address it... but until then, I think this thread is a great idea and plan on using it for personal questions AND to help answer other people's questions.

Perhaps I'll add rules to the OP, such as *SPOILER-FREE Questions Only* and others... even though I really shouldn't be trying to appease the Debbie Downer's of the forum.

So I post my question here...

Are the blocking and general damage reduction multiplicative or additive? In other words, do you get (with maxed armor, shield and magic resistance) 20%*20% for physical damage and 50%*20% for the magical one when blocking? Or simply 20% in both cases, thus making a shield useless?

well said- and more politely than was required, especially with the Noobus post fulfilling the spinning out of control it also warns against.

Anyway, anyone know if you can buy the Summon storm Atronarch and some other high level spells (firestorm comes to mind)? Only seen them in scrolls so far but I'm level 49 with 100 Destruction and 89 Conjuration with over 600 mana so they should be around. If so I'll keep hunting, I just wanna know if they're available...

Such spells start showing up in mages' trade inventories once you hit a certain skill level. All the spells (except some very specialized, like vampire spells or flame familiar) can be bought in College of Winterhold. You should be able to buy any destruction and conjuration spells except master-level. For witch you will have to complete certain quests in the college as well, given by a tutor once you achieve high enough skill (like 100 in destruction).

Nope, nothing there. Damage reduction of blocking isn't mentioned there.

Head over to the Atronach forge in the College, then make one yourself.

Also, to expand upon what others have already mentioned... Enthir in the College of Winterhold is the Master Destruction trainer / vendor. I always buy all my spells off him because he pretty much ALWAYS has ALL spells (if your Destruction level meets the requirements). Should check him out. He also has a LOT of really good alchemy ingredients (daedra hearts included)

I only posted my opinion, ONCE. You make it sound like I spammed your thread... Lighten up.

People don't care to read or honor or understand that not only is this a spoiler-free forum, but even when someone posted a topic like "Random Tips - NO SPOILERS PLEASE", it didn't take long for people to start telling how to finish quests.

/hijack friendly SQSA thread and moving on...
