Ghost23
Here's what I've seen so far. I'm not running with any performance enhancers, obviously, since SKSE and scriptdragon are non-functional at this time, and I can live with that. The view over whiterun was chugging along between 35 and 45 FPS as I pan, now I'm seeing a 58-60 FPS. OK, so far I'm impressed. I took some hits in the Rift with some quick pans during combat with all the visuals before the patch, now I'm seeing consistent 50-55 FPS. I installed the mod that takes the falling leaves down to a lower resolution, and was able to maintain 60 FPS trough the whole area. I'm running Ultra settings, BTW. That was first run and I must say that they made some major improvements. The next run was after I enabled a mod that causes cell load hiccups (Skyrim Wars III). This fills up the open area outside of Whiterun with a whole lot of baddies, so as you run through, it's loading up a ton of AI threads. I was getting my ass kicked if I ran too fast into a cell. Post patch, you get a slight cell pause, but once the cells loads, it runs fabulous. Prior to the patch, I would get spanked a little during combat, especially if the baddies are on fire, being shocked, shouted and beheaded and every once in a while, my CPU would suffer a floating point fart and cause a screen blackout until it caught up with my GPU. Granted, that may have more to do with the Nividia beta driver, but I didn't suffer a single one after clearing the whole area and that's even with a Dragon dropping on on the party while four pyromancers where fireballing the hell out of me (thank god for spellbreaker and fireresist amulet). I am pleased. They listened. They took advantage of a whole bunch of smart gamers out there. The more eyes you put on a problem, the better chance you have of coming up with a solution. Expand the number of eyes to a massive and passionate gaming community, and you get lots of solutions and most likely, some options that they never would have thought of. Then you get guys like me who have no problems with backing up all their crap and taking a beta patch for a run. Are you running 8x AA and 16x AF .. ? Yes. I have an Intel i7, with two 470's SLI (2.8GB). I assume you don't have the HD texture pack installed? I'm running a 2500k and two 6950's, and I get pretty noticeable drop in whiterun. I have the latest 2K texture pack, lush trees and grass. I also have the Riften texture pack, but that one is a tough one to run without any stutter. I can't get better than 45 FPS no matter what. I think that folks have tweaked the hell out of their .ini's, sacrificed goats, chickens and the neighbor's cat to squeeze as many FPS's as they can. I wonder what starting again with defaults and maybe backing off a few texture packs might do.
EpsionNet
Good to download it now ~ 1MB/s usually i get 200kb / s from steam - this is great ! =)
amckimm
Yeah, I gotta wait for SKSE to update too, I /need/ my FoV at 95. I have my FoV set to 95 as well... but I'm not sure why you need SKSE for this? I just type fov 95 in console and I'm all set. Usually saves between loads, but sometimes I have to retype it. Once I change my FOV in console I have to save and reload to re-enable Steam Achievements. After a while, it reverts back to a FOV I don'e like and I have to repeat the process. I'm glad SKSE has a fix for that - I forgot to look into it!
headbomb
Yeah, I just got massive FPS boost from the 1.4 Beta. http://img718.imageshack.us/img718/2254/patch14beta.png I'll keep looking for new version of SkyBoost, but I have a hard time imagining how it could get better than this. Stuff is still tied to the CPU, obviously, and the engine is still crap, but as far as optimization is concerned, I don't see how much better it could get. Of course, I'm always happy to be proven wrong with this sort of stuff. Credit given where credit is due, Bethesda seems to have delivered a solid patch this time around. krist2
just to let you know, SKSE is updatet to the 1.4.15 patch :D Steam beta build: 1.4.5 (compatible with 1.4.15.0) That was fast, so we just have to wait for the mods to update
Ricksnowy
ok i put the patch on this afternoon and started a new build the only thing I have noticed that is bothersom is when opening the main map I hear a strange roaring noise the river water but only for a second or 2 then it goes away but only in the outdoors not if im inside...... strange but no real performance issues.... and No I dont have a super system I have almost minimum req's 2.6 gig with 3 gig ram and 256m nvidia but I run at med settings so far smoothly
krist2
hmm, I don't get the gains that others report. I'm getting a little less performance than with 1.3 patch and SkyBoost r4 But the game seems to go smoother, but will downgrade and wait for all the mods to be compatible again :) I have a C2D at 3,3 and a 5870
myrmaad
With the exception of my SKSE needing to be updated, I played for a while with no issues. (I've never had many issues with Skyrim anyway, even after 400 plus hours and completing the main quest, nothing game breaking.)
Sprucemoose78
I'm eager to try this out now that SKSE is updated too. I have some benchmarking numbers (intro scene) using TESVAL and SkyBoost r3 + r4 test 1 I would like to compare with the 1.4 beta. But could anyone please tell me which files I need to back up prior to upgrading in case I need to downgrade to 1.3.10.0 again. Also, will interface mods using SKSE (ie SkyUI and categorized favorites menu) require an update before they will work with a new version of SKSE?
