[LE] Can't generate .Lip files!

Thank you very much for this informative thread. There would be no modding in Skyrim without the essential help from the Forums! I just wanted to add my two cents, as I experience the same problem with the .Lip files this evening: a sudden inability for CK to generate them from my Audacity files when I had renamed them "Temp.wav" in the data/sound/voice folder as recommended by Deck16. Experimenting with older clips, both generated from the Vanilla files, and original voice actors' dialogue, I realized there was actually something wrong with these saved clips from Audacity. Simply re-saving from my open Audacity spread didn't work; I had to save the Project and close everything down. When I went to reopen it, it was all broken up, so ah, yes, there was a problem...but not one I really understand. I located my clips amongst the dozen suddenly opened windows, re-saved them to a fresh folder, and tried to reinsert them in my quest in CK. Et Voila! .Lip files! Not a CK problem (for once LOL)

This is an ancient thread. I'd forgotten about it!

I've moved on from there.

I don't bother generating temp lip files any more. There's no need, either for edited vanilla voice files or for custom ones made in Audacity. Simply take the Audacity files and save them in the correctly named directory in Data. Then open up CK and window it so that you can see the voice files in Explorer at the same time. Copy/Paste the voice filenames from CK into Windows to rename the Audacity files. generate lip files. It cuts out the Temp file part.

If you're struggling with Audacity, make sure the files are Mono, 14.1 kHz. The 14.1 kHz may not be essential, but I know it's like vanilla and never causes a problem. The mono part is essential. CK can't generate lip files for a stereo track. I never bother saving Audacity projects either. I just 'Export from selected'.

Glad to know the thread helped.

Hi!

Old thread, I know, but maybe you can help me. I have a problem with recording temp voice files in CK 64bit.

I'm a total noob and just wanted to make a super simple mod that adds more idle chatter to Brynjolf (he's a follower with RDO mod, but very quiet). I found a detailed instruction, wasted two days getting CK to work with GOG, then finally was adding a quest and line of dialogue, when I saw I can't record or save in this window.

I've looked everywhere and only found a couple of posts on Reddit saying this is a known issue in CK 64bit. But there must be a workaround, since people are still creating mods?

Is there something I'm missing? Can I just install the old CK and use it with my Skyrim AE GOG version? I'm not sure how it all works. Do I just copy the files later into the correct folder?

You've managed to resolve the issue with the lip files - maybe you can point me the right way! It's super annoying because the creating of the mod would probably take a few hours, and I already have all the voice files extracted and cut with Audacity.

EDIT: nvm, I found a different tutorial, and apparently all I had to do was close the window and open it again. Now everything works. Why everyone told me it doesn't work in CK 64bit is a mystery. Maybe someone will find this useful.
