rez194
I'm trying to do something that I would think should be relatively simple, but so far I've made no progress. I simply want to change the Dunmer from being greenish/blue to being ashen black. I think dark elves look pretty slick with blackish skin. I thought it would've been as simple as removing the hue from a skin layout, but I can't find one and I'm starting to realize I may not be on the right track. Can someone point me in the right direction? I've been scouring the textures folder with Nvidia DDS viewer and BSAopt x64 and have found nothing I would think could be it. jet4571
\Data\textures\actors\character\facegendata\facetint\skyrim.esm is where the NPC's facetint data is stored. Each one is named with the NPC's ID. So you will need a list of all the Darkelf ID's and change all those alongside the racial tint for players would be my guess as to where to start. Is there no way to simply make the default skin color grey or black? That would take forever, changing every Dark Elf NPC's skin tone.
jet4571
There is a default skintone someplace that the player uses and I think does the body tone. I never bothered changing it or even locating it since what i needed was to remove the warpaint from an NPC and it was contained in the location above. but without modding the NPC's individual tone they will revert to it as each NPC has one assigned. There's a body mod that allows you to use different bodies for each race and they are having issues with the tintmask on heads too, they changed it to use the default one but the NPC's reverted to the assigned one. Maybe working together with them you could help each other find an answer. Myself i would pick one and mod it just to see if it affects the whole body, if it does then you can cull out any dark elves that have a unique feature and just make a couple and "save as" overwriting all the others. It might take a while but shouldn't be too many Dark elves in the game unlike Nords. Then the ones that have unique features such as warpaint to do individually so they retain the uniqueness. angelmeats
In theory, you'd want to open the CK, go to Race, go to DarkElf, and play with two things: Face Data and Tinting. You should be able to get your DarkER Elf without touching the actual skin files. The only thing you might want to check is how that'll affect NPCs. For that, you want to look at the Dark Elf's Presets, which is in Actor. Specifically, the Character Gen Parts tab. Good luck!
