Rabbit1251
At some point in my game the head of my character has recently turned all black. I disabled my most recent mods and reactivated ArchiveInvalidation twice in the Nexus Mod Manager with no change. My other character looks fine and I even started a new character who shows the proper skin tone. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Rabbit1251
Update: When she stands in direct light like in front of a firepit she looks fine, but in natural light she is as black as night. Rabbit
Dan3345
For me this was a driver issue. I assume you are AMD? Go into the skyrim directory and remove the atimpg.dll (not exact name but similar) This may fix it temporairily. The only other thing that has fixed it for me since is completely uninstalling ATI drivers and putting on 12.1. Not sure what to do if you are on Nvidia. Rabbit1251
Thank you so much for the reply, Dan. I have the ATI Radeon HD 4890 and it has functioned well for me up 'til now. Also my character didn't start out this way so it's something that cropped up during gameplay at some point. I'm still troubleshooting this. Thanks again. RabbitWell two other things you can try would be to set shadows to low (assuming this is actually a shadow problem and not a driver issue like mine) if that doesnt work try deleting the skyrim.ini's and have the game make new ones. Also I urge you to try reinstalling your drivers or move to 12.1 which can be found here. Tell me how it works out.
Rabbit1251
Hello, Dan. Are you still with me? I had tried much of everything else so I started removing my mods to see if they were the cause of the trouble. Sure enough it turn out to be Smoother Male and Female Faces that was the culprit. Everything seems to be working properly now. Thank you for your help. On your suggestions, I have read of people's complaints concerning shadows so I Googled it to see what I could find. There was a suggestion on one site that said that I could lower my shadows with a slider bar in the Skyrim launcher/graphics menu. I seem to only have a display function and there is no setting for shadows within it. How do you people adjust your shadows. Could it be because I am running on a version 1.2 of Skyrim that I do not have it? Once again I am very much obliged to you for the your assistance with my problem. Many thanks.
