Crash at startup after MCM install

Fallout New Vegas goes unresponsive when starting up in the first screen with all the legal text. This happened after I installed MCM, More Realistic Recoil and then reinstalled MCM. I tested the game after every mod install except between MCM and More Realistic recoil. I reinstalled the game completely and tested if it worked and it did. However, when I install MCM and some other mod that requires MCM it starts crashing. I tried disabling all mods but it still crashes. Also tried disabling mods that require MCM and it crashes then MCM and the mods that it and it crashes. I also tried changing the load order for MCM and plugins.

Could the problem be with Windows 7 Ultimate?

I use Mod Organizer and tried with NMM

My load order:

Fallout NV.esm

[x] ClassicPack.esm

[x]TribalPack.esm

[x]MercenaryPack.esm

[x]CaravanPack.esm

[x]DeadMoney.esm

[x]HonestHearts.esm

[x]OldWorldBlues.esm

[x]LonesomeRoad.esm

[x]GunRunnesArsenal.esm

[x]The Mod Configuration Menu

[x]christinecos.esp <-- from WRP

[x] GRA WRP Compatibility Patch.esp

[x]More Realistic Aiming.esp

First you need to learn a little patience. This is not customer support and you have to wait until someone reads the post that might have an idea what is wrong. 3 minutes is not nearly enough time.

Ok, your load order is not correct. The pre-order packs should load after the main game and DLCs. Also, Fallout NV.esm is not shown as active. No [x] before the title.

You have a compatibility patch but do not have both of the masters. GRA WRP Compatibility Patch.esp requires both GRA and WRP to be installed and active.

I apologize if I appeared impatient, that was not my intention.

To adress your recommended fixes; I tested the load order you suggested in which the pre-order packs are loaded after main game and DLC but it still crashes even after having all mods disabled. The Fallout NV.esm is grayed out and has no tick box in the plugin load order, therefore I assume it is always enabled. As for the compatibility patch requiring GRA and WRP, the GRA (Gun Runners Arsenal) is enabled and WRP (Weapon Retexture Project) did not come with esp, other than christinecos.esp from the alternative texture for that specific weapon

Beyond the problems previously identified, MCM requires Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86: the 32-bit version) and NVSE: the latest of which is v5.0b3. Do you have that (or any from v2.0b3 or later) of NVSE installed? (It won't show up in the "load order", and has to be installed MANUALLY.)

See the "Solutions to Starting the game problems" section in the "Fallout NV Mod Conflict Troubleshooting" guide for other common problems.

Thank you for your support.

To address your recommended fixes; I already had Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package x86 but I still ran the fix option from the installation program provided by your link. As for the NVSE, I had the stable version that is v5.0b2 so I replaced it with the v5.0b3. After that I launched the NVSE via Mod Organizer which resulted in the game crashing at the same point but this time the music was playing. I tried again but the game crashed at the same point specified in my first post.

From the guide you recommended, I tried the first as it seemed most plausible and also disabled Steam overlay. The game still crashes at the same point.

As for my next attempt, I'm going to reinstall the game completely and refrain from installing MCM even though some mods require it. Some mods require MCM only for in game configuration so I don't see it as such a necessity. I greatly appreciate you support and will report the results when done.

So I reinstalled Fallout New Vegas and started it up but it crashed at the same point. This makes me doubt whether or not it is a MCM issue. Then I realized that Overwolf is an overlay program so I closed the program and started up Fallout New Vegas. The game worked...

However, Fallout New Vegas worked with Overwolf on previously and worked after I turned Overwolf back on. Therefore I feel it is safe to assume that Overwolf may cause stability issues with Fallout New Vegas. Regardless I feel quite silly.

Yes, OverWolf is known to sometimes interfere with the game starting. With that identified, you should have no problems getting MCM to work. You did not have the other UI mods that are involved at the moment, but you should look at the "HUD-UI-Menu issues" article if you contemplate adding any of those types to your game. (Once you start modding, it's very difficult to stop.)
