GeminiContractor
I'm trying to edit a mod I downloaded by pasting a part from another mod onto it, but so far whenever I try copy branch and paste branch it gives the error:"failed to map parent link NiNode|filename.nif" It doesn't actually say filename, but the name of the file I'm trying to copy over.I got it to work before, but I'm not sure how, as I have pretty much 0 experience with Nifskope. I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right area, but could I get some help with this? Thanks in advance.

throttlekitty
Names are important when copy/pasting in Skyrim nifs. Use the 'txt' icon in the data view to rename the node above what you are copying from to match what you're pasting to.
GeminiContractor
Which version are you using?1.1.0-rc4 works for sure. 1.1.0-rc4(revision 876fc32) Names are important when copy/pasting in Skyrim nifs. Use the 'txt' icon in the data view to rename the node above what you are copying from to match what you're pasting to. I'll try and see if that works. Edit: It doesn't seem to be working, could you explain in a little more detail?I click on Txt next to the NiTriShape, but it just shows me a number. jet4571
I know what the problem is. on the parent node of the file you are copying into, change the name of it to the same as the one you are copying from. example using the bonecrown we have "0 NiNode" named "BoneCrownF.nif" and you want to copy the hood from the psiijic robes to it you will change the name to "PsiijicHoodF.nif". then you are able to copy and paste the hood onto the bonecrown. Follow what i am saying? *editSorry i didnt see throttlekitties post saying the same thing. Edited January 26, 2012 by jet4571
