snapper69
Khimera, it appears that if DCMS is at fault, you can't assign settlers to anything, in my case, the improved warnings also stopped and settlers previously assigned to stores had no caps. Once this happened it was incurable, except by starting a new game, although, I suppose that starting from a save before you installed it would work. That's the risk you take when you install mods I guess
damanding
Scrap Everything is the currently supported, technically sound scrapping mod of choice. As for the new settler naming mod, I'm waiting until the mod author finds a way to make it work without modifying the vanilla workshop scripts. Currently it conflicts with the Unofficial Patch and if Bethesda ever makes changes to it that mod will cause problems. I would recommend tracking that one for now. Great news! Kinggath helped the Immersive Settlers mod author re-do their mod so it no longer modifies vanilla workshop scripts! It should be safe to use now. :D

Usiel
Funny enough I still use Don't Call Me a Settler. I have not had any problems from it. The only issue with it is that it tends to rename settlers, which I think was hardcoded or something like that. I don't know the whole story but it has something to do with how settlers work so it becomes problematic with that. I'd love if the creator put it back, and maybe dabbled with it because it still works fine.
caleb68
there is a new mod called Immersive Settlers that renames settlers but doesn't have all the extra functions of DCMS but does give new settlers names if that is all you are after. it hasn't been out long enough to see if it causes similar issues with saves, but given how often Nexus users add and remove plugins part way through the game, and how no 2 players have exactly the same mods installed in the same order, can a game breaker deep in a save really be purely the fault of any one mod?Mh, for me, it was exactly these extra features why I installed DCMS. Especially the corpse burning, since it could remove these respawning and/or hard-to-move corpses in places like Taffington Boathouse and those annoying skeletons in the Drive-In settlement. Though I guess I will have a look at Immersive Settlers, them having names is still a nice touch. you could try my corpse cleaner, works good for settlements as well as the majority of the commonwealth area. http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/21262/

The latter was an engine bug that the Unofficial Patch accidentally made worse. However it's since been fixed so you would have to be running a seriously outdated version of the game to still have it.
BlahBlahDEEBlahBlah
This is in no way directed at anyone (maybe even a little off-topic), just venting a bit: A mod I'm helping with just had to create workaround for DCMS. It's fine when people say "I've had no problem with DCMS", I get it. However, when it's "I've had no problem with DCMS, it works perfect", well, that's kind of lame. When a whole subsection (but not the only subsection) of other mods has to implement a workaround for bugs in another mod, that's clearly *not* "works perfect". I'm glad it's been taken down and applaud the author for doing so, it was a very prudent thing to do. I wish them all the luck in cleaning it up and *then* bringing it back when it's ready.
