Looking for animators to answer some questions

2015 max works as well. I have imported and exported scratch made animations with 2015 just fine and got them working in-game no prob. Maya 2013-2015 can use the Havok plugin as well if you just need to convert animations and a fbx skeleton but without the proper nif support that 3ds max has its much harder to animate what you need.I think there is a nif plugin for Maya but ti only works on one version of the program, not used it personally.

As far as blender goes I don't believe it's supported at all with havok. It is a shame these tools require more specific versions of 3d programs instead of being more versatile but thats usually how it goes with any game.

This is how it is with enterprise level software. It's just not intended, or priced/supported, for individuals.

Sad...but that's just the way it goes.

Yeah, as far as I know Maya LT is the only professional 3d modeling tool (in the traditional sense of modeling, not sculpting) that is priced for individuals. For $30 a month its a pretty good deal. The unfortunate part is games like Fallout 4 don't have the plugins/tools to support it for things like animation and nifs but at the very least it can be used to do the modeling part of things for those wanting a step up from blender.

When the day comes more game studios start using the programs that are available for not only studio licenses but can be bought on individual basis (like Substance Painter and 3D coat as examples) then it will be far easier for modders in the game to create stuff since the same plugins/tools the studio uses will work with the same program a hobbyist bought.
