Companion Mod Creation Team

I know this probably isn't the right place to post this, but I can't think of a better place to do so.

I am looking to put together a team of mod makers to take on some of the larger ideas concerning Companion Mods... more specifically, Request based Companion Mods.

I don't know what all the process of creating Companion Mods Entails, but I do know that I can write the Dialogue.

Just post what it is you bring to the table that this team will need if you're interested, and once we have enough people, we can tackle our first task.

I've made a lot of companions, even uploaded a few of them to the Nexus.

This tutorial will show you step by step what you need to do.

It's not that hard. Once you get some experience at it and don't need to keep looking back at the reference, you can whip off a basic companion in a fairly short amount of time. It's not something that I would think you would need an entire team for, though you will usually need a voice actor/actress (assuming your voice doesn't match that of the intended companion).

I've noticed that you posted in the Corporal Betsy thread. You seem to have a lot of ideas about Betsy and Veronica. You're going to have two main issues there. One is that both of them have a lot of dialog and quest options, which means that you are either going to need to hack into a bunch of quests or you'll need to disable those and create all new equivalents. Either way, that's a fair amount of work. But then you are going to run into another big issue. You don't have access the voice actors who originally voiced those characters. The only way you'll be able to make the voices match between the vanilla game and your additions would be if you re-voiced both characters from the ground up. That's a lot of voice acting. And you'll need to find someone who is not only willing to do all of that voice acting, but who also has a voice suitable for that character. It doesn't have to be an exact match with the original voice actor, but the voice does have to sound like it at least matches that character's physical representation in-game.

If you scale your ambitions down rather dramatically, you can usually find enough dialog in the existing voice files to at least make a functional, if basic, companion (some editing of the voice files may be required). At least this way you don't have to worry about finding a voice actor. On the other hand, it really limits what you can do with the character. I made a fairly simple Ranger Ghost companion by doing this. It's a usable companion, but that's it. She is very limited in what she says, because there's only so much in those vanilla voice files.

One advantage of doing completely new characters, as opposed to editing Betsy or Veronica, is that the quests and scripting are much easier, and you don't put so much of a demand on your voice actor/actress.

Anyway, hope this at least gives you some things to think about.

I'd rather keep it simple on the Corporal Betsy Companion... just make it so you can recruit her. The problem is that I have a tendency to f*#@ things up when I try to change things in the way that this would require me to, so I'm really uncomfortable with the idea of making it myself.
