Koitusskiller
Hey, the same issue started today. i use 200+ mods, after 60 hours of playtime, i cant save anymore. i did everything (resaver/load the same file twice/disable heavy scripted mods).Nothing fixed this for longer then 2-3 saves...Its the worst thing ever happend to me in this game. I invested so much time to get a nice and stable modded skyrim, just to get this bug...could anyone explain me what cause this? Im not sure if i rly understood the the whole thing. squireoivanhoe
Sorry joemodda. Since you've tinkered around with mods it will probably be pretty difficult to salvage. In the future, something that I do is keep a log of the mods I use and when I add them, it takes 1-5 minutes when adding a mod and can save games. I would be interested to know for posterity's sake if you tried the fix to the letter way back when? I never got a reply about what happened if/when you tried it. squireoivanhoe
Hi Koitusskiller, Sorry that you're experiencing this. It's incredibly frustrating for all of us who practice good modding habits. We think that the cause of this is running more scripts than the engine can handle at any given point. When this happens, the script runs but doesn't terminate, so it just keeps firing ad infinitum. Since scripts are baked into saves, the save function eventually can't take it and fails. It only has to happen for one instance for it to become a problem. Fortunately the fix seems to work for about 50% of people (and without knowing exactly what some people did in some instances, it may have worked for more). At the very least, it helps folks identify which combinations of mods were the problem so that on their next playthrough they can avoid this issue. Mine has been running stable for 259 hours when before I couldn't get past 100. When you did Resaver, did you notice which mods were generating the issue? That's a key component of the fix. Hmmm... not sure which fix/post you're referring to (and I'm too lazy to dig back and see what they were), but I did try a lot of advice in this thread... but no luck
squireoivanhoe
No worries joemodda, this thread is getting quite large. For posterity's sake, the fix is: 1. Move to an interior area that doesn't contain anything in your mod.2. Wait ten minutes (real time, not in-game time).3. Save, quit.4. Uninstall whatever mod has too many actively running scripts.5. Load that save.6. Wait ten minutes (real time, not in-game time).7. Save again, to a new slot.8. Load the new savefile in ReSaver, delete unattached instances, save to a new file.9. Try to play normally from that save... using LAL-loading if necessary.10. If you get a message saying that your save is corrupt, you won't be able to play from that save, but you have likely found the culprit.
kmc08812
I having the same problem. Just wanted to play one more playthough on skyrim se since I always play on LE and it finally got the mods I always use on SE. Play for 200 hours about to stop playing and dont turn it on again except to update mods and whenever the next beyond skyrim patch comes out and now I ctd when I try to save. Something that never happen in LE even though I basically got the same load order. Sometimes I can save once in different cells but but try to save a 2nd time I ctd. Now move my character to qasmoke but their I save 10 times straight but teleport my character some where else in game and save i crash. so guess some script on when I am anywhere else in skyrim but not there. See if i can figure it out.

aleysie
Hi guys, it's the second time I am having ctd on save problem for sse. First time, I had more mods and there were more script heavy mods like frostfall, ineed and wet and cold. This time, I am not using any of them and it is fairly small modded game. Whilst I was reading the page, I came across someone saying defragging might help. I am using ssd for the game and I know, you shouldn't defrag your ssd but I am wondering if there is a correlation between them. How many of the people who are having this problem are running the game on ssd?
squireoivanhoe
Hi aleysie, I'm sorry that you're experiencing this issue, and sorry for the delayed response. No one has yet reported success with defragging. I run my OS on an SSD, but my Skyrim files are on a different drive. Have you tried the fix? Since you aren't using many mods I would be interested to see what ReSaver says about your save.
