Spear of the Hunt

I am currently currently developing a mod ("developing" in the sense of working on the relevant commands and plot and scripting, the mod will only be able to be constructed with the construction kit) where the player receives a call to aid of a group of hunters to kill a dragon as they wish to collect it's scales and bones, typical end game stuff or interesting mid game stuff or terrifying early game stuff (post first dragon). When you arrive I've planned there to be a situation where you've taken too long to get here and they've already trapped the dragon in it's lair and are preparing for a final assault but allow you to take part anyway.

After you push into the lair the dragon puts up a feeble fight, it may fall to the npcs before you put more than 3 arrows in it, but further exploration of the lair reveals some secrets, first is the deep forge, a large cold fire pit with a huge serpent coiled around it and reared above it, the second is the skeleton of a hunter carrying a sliver of metal and a series of journals, most only contain a smattering of survived writings containing a rough record of the hunters dreams and travels, the the first and the last journals seem to have weathered better than the rest, the first referring to visions of hircine holding aloft his spear before planting it into the corpse of a werewolf and walking away, with other visions of him giving the spear to a shadowy figure, and other visions of the shadowy figure fighting hircine and shattering the spear with a critical blow.

The journal admits that these visions are blurring together and that he can't work out which is the true vision but he sets out on a journey to earn hircine's regard and learn of the location of the spear. The last journal speaks of him fleeing his homeland with a piece of the spear and that he knows where the others are kept, the writing here is frantic and obviously the writer was becoming insane, he makes notes on the eagle the snake and the whale many times, citing such nonsense as the three fires once burned but now only two do and other disparate phrases such as the key is the snake and that it is not to be trusted. The final page of the last journal speaks a few short sentences, hircine has found him and he is the prey now that he has failed his task, he speaks of a great beast and the sounds of horns and the cold ashes he holds in his hands are the marks of his failure.

The player may take the piece of metal and use it as a dagger but it has fairly pitiful damage and is not upgradeable, the hunters spread out amongst the area of the forge and the oldest hunter names it the deep forge and recites a tale from the old times when shor fell and kyne struck a blow against the old knocker for his subterfuge and struck him deep into the earth, although he escaped he left his presence there forever. The orc hunter takes offense at this statement and argues the myth at this point the player (should) realize that these hunter's are not simple mercenaries but also quite knowledgeable of the myths and legends of the land, the mage of the party then tries to ignite the forge but fails and wonders at it's design.

I'll not reveal anymore of this quest line but suffice to say the rewards will be a new set of followers, a magical weapon which they will have a choice of, will contain radiant research goals and at least 3 new locations with multiple cells each, a new necklace that observant bloodmoon players will smile at, a new home and new options for werewolves after the quest line completes and the npc sub quests are complete.

It's still in the design stage and I'm mostly testing the design structure using the fallout construction kit and its coming along alright, I already have a 3d modeler and a texture artist so offers of help developing the mod are appreciated but not needed.

Outside of that does anyone have any ideas that would work well with this mod?

The project is progressing well and many of the items now have meshes and even a some textures, the pool of quests rewards has risen as the number of quests have finished being written. The mod will scale with level only very loosely, the mod is aimed at players around level 10 - 20 to start and finish with players approaching 40 - 45. This is quite a long quest chain and involves in depth player choices such as whether to aid a bandit clan in their efforts to increase their territory in order to safely move an artifact through the territory or simply destroy them, or involve the local jarl and increase your standings with him but at the cost of his interest in the artifact.

The total stats for the mod so far:

Finished Quests: 8

Finished Major Quest Line: No

Total Mesh Work: around 30% done

Total Texture Work: around 10%

Total Major Quest Rewards: 6

Total Minor Quests Rewards: 10

Number of Planned NPCs: around 17

Script Work: 60%

Voice Acting: about 10%
