The idea is that, if i am using my swords or duo swords, i can see my bow, or my war hammer on the back of my character, or if i feel like using my war hammer you can see my duo swords on the character.

i know its a fps, but i think that would be a cool idea. Anyone else think so?

eh its not a bad idea but it would need limitations, such as showing the last equiped item that you are not currently using.

example: you were using a bow, but now have a two handed sword out for melee combat, the bow would show but if you used daggers before the bow the daggers would not.

the limitations are so your entire inventory doesn't show. i like to have two different bows a scythe, a few one-handed swords, some daggers, and a two handed sword on me. if i used this with out those limitations my character would look stupid.

i know its a fps,

fail?

I had this idea as well (posted it a few weeks ago, I think), but unlike you gentlemen I think it would be awesome to just be stacked with every weapon imaginable. Besides, what's the harm in having the capability? Let people faux-equip as much or as little as they want. I would want two one-handers (sword or axe), two daggers (they actually sit in a slightly different place on the hip, so wouldn't conflict), then shield, bow & quiver, AND a two-hander on my back. Making the favorited or quick-numbered items is a good idea, I wonder if that information is readily useable by modders...

My guess would be that this mod cannot be made, at least not in the form you imagine. No one was ever able to make this mod for Oblivion.

I am imagining that what would have to be done is a piece of clothing would have to made which would look like a weapon that was being worn and not wielded. This clothing item would hog up an equipment slot. I am not sure which one would be best to hog up. So lets use the duel swords for an example. Someone makes a clothing model for these two steel swords and makes a custom quest and a custom quest script to detect if your two swords are being wielded. (But wait! There must be an in-game mechanism to designate which two swords you want to wear.) So lets say that some clever chap figures that part out and the computer knows which two swords you are wearing. Now in third person your character can be seen wearing two steel swords and a quiver full of arrows and wielding a bow. Isn't this cool? Well, actually not. I mentioned that these are steel swords, but you happen to own one Orcish sword and one Dwarven sword. So it just looks dumb. The talented modeler made a duel steel swords model and made an Orcish sword model, but didn't get around to making a Dwarven sword model. He certainly didn't get around to making a model with one Dwarven sword and one Orcish sword. But what about war axes? what about maces? (And don't forget the scripting for each of these clothing items!)

Okay. Lets say the modeler spends the next six months making all sorts of worn weapon clothing items. But you go and download a mod with some really cool looking swords. Can you wear a pair of these swords from the mod? No. Of course not. The modeler just spent all this time making all these models for the vanilla game. There are a lot of mods out there, and more will be made all the time. Our poor modeler cannot keep up.

So I am guessing that this mod request is well beyond the capabilities of the Skyrim game system and beyond the available time and manpower available to those trying to work out around the Skyrim game system to do something it isn't really designed for.

1.well you would need to lower the poly of the weapons drastically for it to not lag

2.we would need to script new ways to put different types of objects on someone without them overlapping or glitching

3.like said above, it would need to be limited, if your character is like mine then you have a lot of stamina and are carrying a large amount of weapons, i really dont want to look like a pack mule in skyrim

Certainly, if there's no way to get the game to treat previously equipped items as pseudo-equipped, then the mod would be excessively hard to make, but there's actually a glitch that allows people to get swords and daggers to coincide (thread screenshot). Hopefully, that glitch is indicative of the game storing information on which weapon is equipped in a way that we can manipulate.

The polycounts on the weapons don't scare me (if my computer can handle the multiple followers mod fine, who all have weapons, why should it have trouble with just the weapons?), nor does clipping (my greatsword already cuts into my back and clips the quiver I'm wearing, so what's the difference?).
