stewwmann
OMG...I have spent 3 days reading forums, doing fresh installs and banging my head on the table....still no mods.OK I'll try and give the history...I had a non steam version installed in a non standard location(E:/steam) mostly because of the high speeds of this raid array. I put well over 100 hours into the game and it was winding down so I thought modds would renew my interest. I installed NMM and had no success. Everything activated fine but no mods. As I said, I have used the forums, so i made sure files were not read only and everything else suggested. No go. So I purchased a fresh copy from steam, deleted the old install with a registry clean and started over. Let everthing defalt install... NO GO. Did this like 3 times. So then I decide to give it a go on another machine alltogether.Steam was already installed to default location on this one and Skyrim had never been installed. Still no go.....I have tried many modds and they all activate successfully but do not work. I even disabled UAC and still NADA. I have never run mods before, and thought this to be the perfect game to get me going. I Know my way around a pc,but more from the hardware vs software side of things. Both these machines autodetect ultra high and I would REALLY love to be able to experiance this game modded on one or the other of them.....If anyone has any suggestions (be nice) for a noob that really doesn't want to throw in the towel on this, you would make my day........... :wallbash: Note to ADMIN:wasn't sure if this belongs here or in troubleshooting, and didn't want to double post..... Topvman
Did bEnableFileSelection is set to 1 in your SkyrimPrefs.ini? If think that having this one to 0 may still block mod loading, even with NMM.If you can't find it in your SkyrimPrefs.ini, just go down to [Launcher] and add under [Launcher] this line : bEnableFileSelection=
scrivener07
What mod are you trying to install? They dont all install the same. btw glad you decided to buy Skyrim. Anything worth having is worth paying for.
ooofbaer
Stewwmann, tell us what mods you're trying to install. I think NMM may be your problem. Try installing the mods manually. Unzip the contents of the .zip file, then copy-paste them to whichever directory they should be in, e.g. Data\x\x\x\x\. That's how I do them, and they've all worked -- where, sometimes, NMM wouldn't. And yes "anything......." is my motto- just like test driving a car before a puchase. Edited January 29, 2012 by stewwmann

Yah, I tried that on the first machine and overwrote files and the lot, I could see the new files in the folders but still not working, Saved a backup of data files and tried this method a couple of times. Suprised I didn't screw up the install............I'll give it a go on the clean install machine. Edited January 29, 2012 by stewwmann
ooofbaer
Sadly, the above suggestion is the extent of my troubleshooting capabilities, here. Hopefully someone comes along who can better help.

I have never used NMM, when you say "everything activated fine"...Does that mean that the mod has a tick in DATA FILES when you launch the game?......I know it sounds ridiculously obvious BUT it happened to me  Other than what's been said...mods should be working...unless it has something to do with being on E drive instead of C drive....but i doubt that would cause problem. Sunnie
Out of curiosity... Are you running this on a Win Vista or Win 7 PC? And, is Steam installed in the "Program Files" folder?
