Dragonfire12
Creation Kit was working fine. Now when I try to open an NPC record (Actor\Actors) CK crashes. I can open and edit anything else, just not NPC records. It seems that this started happening after the Feb 6 update patch 1.9. I have verified Fallout 4 through Steam. I have uninstalled/reinstalled Creation Kit. I have no edits to any of Creation Kit's .ini files. I can't explain this, it doesn't make any sense and is driving me crazy. Has anyone else experienced this and if so is there a fix? FYI, I have a 4ghz/8 core processor, 32gb memory, 2TB hard drive and GTX970 video card. I doubt it's a hardware issue. BlahBlahDEEBlahBlah
Edit: Nevermind, I totally missed a whole sentence...sorry. Does it crash when you rightclick>preview an NPC?What about file>preferences>previewwindow? Do any changes there affect the outcome of opening up an NPC record? llamaRCA
If the actor is wearing a modded armor it might be causing the crash. Some modded armor may crash the CK even though it works in game. If it's the mesh you won't be able to open the cell where the actor is located without it crashing.
Dragonfire12
LlamaRCA, Thank you so much for that tip. I never would have figured that out on my own. I have the 2pac4eva7 Armor mod installed. I disabled it and now I can edit NPC's. You are awesome, Thanks.
llamaRCA
np. Happy to help! I was completely stumped the first time it happened to me too. Still don't entirely understand why a mesh that works in game crashes the CK :ermm:
jackjack86
http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/18438/? Apparently bogus nodes on armor can cause this
briarheart22
Fixed it for me. Same problem. Could only load certain npc's all others would crash. I tried everything looked everywhere for hours. Tinkered with NVIDIA and CK ini settings everything, Read about CK not liking custom armor and clothing mods. As jackjack86 noted. What worked was so simple I had to lol over and over. Went into Data\Meshes folder, put an ! (0 or ; or any other character) in front of Armor and Clothes folders, (i.e.!Armor). It worked. Bandits everyone loaded in character screen. Loose files override the .ba2 files. Hiding the loose files forces CK to read the .ba2 files by default with all the original armor and clothing. When I am done editing and close CK I just go back in Data and remove the ! from in front of those folders, custom armor and clothes are still in game. Didn't have to remove or delete any custom mods. Hope this helps . Until CK can start reading custom armor clothing mods. This works for simple character editing and custom npc's you create, don't know about a fix to script editing crashes, etc. yet. orangedeal
If someone ever encounters a similar problem and the tips above will not help.If this happens on a specific character, delete all entries from the inventory of this character through FO4Edit, save and open it in CK again. If it helped, then that was the problem. I've encountered this a few times, but I had big changes in the plugin. Moreover, after adding all the same entries to the inventory, the problem did not come out. All this is strange.
