I've downloaded HOW MUCH???

After purchasing Skyrim last month and finding it doesn't really like just 2GB ram I decided to get some more which means upgrading to 64bit windows. So this weekend I've done the deed and now everything is up and running again. I have two hard disks, one for Windows and programs, the other for games. The games one had 20GB left out of 300, so decided to re-format that one for a clean start. Before doing so, I just had a quick look at what was on and how much space they were taking up. In the Bethesda Software folder was 3 games, Oblivion, Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas. Bare in mind that Christmas 2010 I had a motherboard failure and did a re-install back then so the folder would be a little over a year old. The folder was 72GB!!! If the games are about 6.5GB each, lets say 20GB for all three, thats 52GB of mods, 99% of which have been downloaded from the Nexus. Thats just 3 games. I didn't check Dragon Age 2 or the Witcher games or Skyrim but I've downloaded ton's of stuff for them too. As I've been a member here since 2006 when I first bought Oblivion, I can't even imagine how much stuff I've downloaded in all, probably a couple of terabytes at least. Boggles the mind, especially if you're a middle-aged gamer like me and can remember that the hard disk on my first ever PC was just 20MB!! Ahh well, here's to another 6 years of modded goodness

I had to stop backing up Oblivion mods. I just gets completely ridiculous when you go back and see that you have a 25gb oblivion folder and than backed up 20gb of mods somewhere else. I have since reduced it to around 12gb but it can really add up  . On my laptop I believe I have around 300gb of spaced used just for games.

I use my Laptop to download everything i need, then i transfer it over to my desktop, which means if ever one of them gets a virus or crashes or something, i have all of the Data elsewhere. But i know what you mean, my oblivion folder had 24 gig in it, and my morrowind 19, on top of other games it can get really ridiculous XD

I feel the pain. Before my storage hard drive crashed the other day (a beautiful, awesome 2TB hard drive which I now have to replace :(), I decided to boot into this recovery boot disk thingy I bought a couple months ago and see how much I could recover to my 500GB hard drive. Well, I found that my music folder had grown to 100GB from stuff I've downloaded from Jamendo, ripped from CD's or got from somewhere else (like iTunes or Amazon). My Steam folder alone was absolutely HUGE with about 125GB total (about a quarter of it was New Vegas' folder from all the DLC and crap I've installed), and my game folder (which is where I installed Steam) in total was about 220GB from games I didn't install through Steam like Bad Company 2 (I don't buy games from Steam if I don't have to).

I had used about 900GB out of 2TB. I only recovered the music because I didn't have space for everything.

Well i have a good 100gb of mods backed up, thank godness i have a good 1tb of space. So running out isn't a issue. Thats just Oblivion alone.

Skyrim probably 30gb's so far.

That's all nothing, I figured out I overdid it with mods when my Fallout 3's data folder exceeded 120GB. And what's the worse, I've got a 260 GB hard drive with Fallout 3 installed on D which is 160 GB. When I got Skyrim I reduced FO3 size to 30GB. It's a sad day when you need to remove mods, especially when you need to remove a lot of them, I had aproximately 1000-1200 before the cleanup and only 2 merged packs left along some of my own (cca 500 mods).

Now Skyrim is eating away my memory, I already have 20GB of mods installed, I'll probably be out of memory again by summer . Damn these Bethesda games, they drive me to mod :wallbash:.
