esmith
Hi again, Skyrim lovers! I have FXAA post-process injector and Skyrim Enhanced Shaders by Tapioks and Xorchan installed and working beautifully. (Fabulous mods, thanks guys!) Only thing is, the dungeons and interiors are a little too dark for my taste (I'm literally groping around in the dark if I don't happen to have a torch on me, and right now that's exactly where I am). How do I make adjustments to brighten dark areas up a bit? I'm not afraid to make changes to the .ini, if that's required, but I just don't know what to change. Of course a torch would come in handy when I find myself in a stygian area, but it's kinda difficult to find one when you can't even see your hand in front of your face. Does anybody know what the item code for torches is? I've looked around and can't find one in any of the item code lists I've found online! Help please, I'm hurting myself... LOL Cheers! babis8142
why don't you buy a light spell? You won't run out of that. Also if you want to use console commands, I don't know but you could type help torch 0 and see if the game give you the code for it. Thanks, I didn't think of using help in the console, I'll try that first. (Duh. *head smack*) I do have a light spell, but at level 18 it only lasts for 60 secs. Also, the area I'm in has some nasty attackers in it, and using the light spell drains my magicka so I end up without enough to kill them off. If the console help doesn't have a torch code I guess my best bet would be to leave the dungeon, go someplace and get a torch, then return... Ah well, I'm a patient sort of Breton... NoobusExtremus
If you're using the ENB Series stuff (which I believe the Enhanced Shaders mod uses), try Shift-F12 to toggle the ENB shaders on/off to get you through the dark spots. Then, you can edit the config file and adjust the ambient lighting (night and/or day) to bump up the brightness a bit while the mod is active. By the way, I'm level 45 and both candlelight and magelight spells only work for about a minute anyways...I think that's all you get. If you have magelight, you can shoot it off down a tunnel or across a room and see if any baddies are around; then you can prepare for battle. What do I look for there, to edit? Sorry, but I really haven't done much in that way, and want to learn these things... Hopefully some ambitious li'l modder out there will come up with something that'll allow spell-light to last longer. Heck, maybe I'll take a whack at it once the CK comes out... I'm an animator and graphic artist, I guess I should get into the game... pardon the pun :)
NoobusExtremus
Look for enbseries.ini in your Skyrim install folder (where tesv.exe is located). I'm using the v0.103 ENB Series injector, and created a enbseries_user.ini file to tweak various ENB settings, so I don't have to mess with the original enbseries.ini. In any case, look for the [Environment] section. Here's what mine is at the moment: [ENVIRONMENT]DirectLightingIntensityDay=1.5DirectLightingIntensityNight=0.35DirectLightingCurveDay=1.0DirectLightingCurveNight=0.7DirectLightingDesaturationDay=0.1DirectLightingDesaturationNight=0.35 SpecularAmountMultiplierDay=0.6SpecularAmountMultiplierNight=0.4SpecularPowerMultiplierDay=0.7SpecularPowerMultiplierNight=0.7SpecularFromLightDay=0.4SpecularFromLightNight=0.3 AmbientLightingIntensityDay=1.2AmbientLightingIntensityNight=0.6AmbientLightingCurveDay=1.0AmbientLightingCurveNight=0.9AmbientLightingDesaturationDay=0.5AmbientLightingDesaturationNight=0.2 PointLightingIntensityDay=0.9PointLightingIntensityNight=1.0PointLightingCurveDay=1.0PointLightingCurveNight=1.0PointLightingDesaturationDay=0.2PointLightingDesaturationNight=0.2 FogColorMultiplierDay=1.0FogColorMultiplierNight=0.35FogColorCurveDay=1.0FogColorCurveNight=0.7 I'm also using a enbpalette.bmp that is an optional way to help with the brightness curve, so my user.ini settings might not work well for you, but now you know what to tweak on you system. I believe pre-103, you can hit the <backspace> key to re-load the enb settings after you alt-tab out of the game to change ENB values. With v0.103 it reloads automatically after alt-tabbing back into the game.
